This hotel is now called the Perkasa Hotel and is nearing the end of a complete renovation. Parts of the lobby and bar remain closed but the guest rooms have been modernised to a high standard and the view of Mount Kinabalu from the window was breathtaking!

I had dinner here too and it was very good. There were not many guests staying just yet but when this is finished, it will be a gem.

Do not be put off by earlier reviews, things have definitely changed here.

Almost completely renovated and looking good.

This was a hotel that came with a tour package but it was reasonable.  A comfortable room with a good bathroom attached where all the plumbing worked as expected. The lobby was attractive and quite comfortable especially at this higher altitude.  A couple of very good meals in their spacious dining room including dinner and breakfast.  This place has some bad reviews on Trip Advisor but it was fine for one night.

A comfortable choice.

This is definitely one of the worst hotels that I have ever stayed at.  It is grubby, dirty and very tired.  It is like taking a trip back to the 1970s - this is probably when this hotel was last refurbished!  Such a shame, given its amazing location next to Mount Kinabalu.

Awful Hotel - Do not stay here!

I've been there in 2015. A family trip. Very nice place. The room is good but a little bit smelly. The view is amazing. The privacy is very good. If you like to walk around, this is the place to stay. The environment is great surrounded with forest. The hospitality is ok. Overall, I give 4/5. Recommended.

Mount Kinabalu Resort & Spa review (Sorry for the late review)

It's a good location but there is a lot to improve in terms of maintenance. Toilet flush isn't in good condition. Power outlet isn't working. Hair dryer & ironing isn't in good condition. Toilet doors isn't working. TV has no sound. Water faucet is loose. Maintenance isn't up to hotel standard.

Need Proper Maintenance

Hotel was old, lack of amenities, staff was not friendly too. Room was not kids friendly since the windows couldn’t be lock and was dangerous to the kids. Price was not worth with what it offers. Wouldn’t recommend to stay here.

Not worth the price 

Hotel is run down in every sense. Carpet was worn, splotchy, had ironing burns all over the place. Walls are paper thin. If your neighbours were even the slightest bit loud, you would find it hard to sleep. Barely any TV reception, so am wondering why it is even there. Bed was not the most comfortable. Linen was rough. Wifi is available, but only just. Basically, a room you can depressed staying in.
The view from the room was some trees and a cottage.

But here comes the saving grace...

When you wake up early in the morning, go down and order your breakfast. And while they are preparing it for you, ask where you can view the mountain.
Go to the viewing deck, and be prepared to be rendered speechless. The view is magnificent. You can spend hours there just looking at the mountain. Make sure you are up early to see it before it gets covered in clouds.
That is the only saving grace of this hotel.
If that's a tradeoff you are willing to take, then book this hotel.
Otherwise, you might be better off spending your money elsewhere, because it is rather expensive.

Only saving grace was the view from the viewing deck - outside the hotel

was here for 2 nights recently. Hotel is old and not maintain. Wear and tear can be seen everywhere.  I was given a corner room on the 4th floor, which was very annoying because the room is just above the kitchen. Practically i can smell what is cooking for breakfast, lunch and dinner.  Room is warm and not ventilated even in October. No aircond, No fan No fridge provided in the room. I requested a stand fan which they said they don't have but luckily they have a floor fan which save me for the 2 nights. Room cleaning was just simply make up the bed and replenish the coffee tea sugar and cream. i purposely dropped  some biscuit crumbs on the floor but after the everyday room cleaning the crumbs still remain at the same place. Same as the bathtub, hair can be seen everywhere.
I remembered back in the old days, this hotel used to be the best in Kundasang. But it seems that their time had past.

unpleasant stay

The bungalows no longer meet the standard. Hot water was a bad sign. The connecting door to the neighbor's house had a huge gap, so you got the feeling that the guests in the living room are sitting on your bed.

It's a great view of the valley from the window. It's worth waking up at dawn and before the sky is cloudy, looking at the most beautiful mountains and green fields. And it's also great to walk around the hotel (there's even your own suspension bridge-canopy) - the air is really fresh. As for the hotel itself, you can bathe, sleep, but not more: the rooms are wet, a little uncleaned - it's been a long time to renovate. If you live in these conditions - then the price should be appropriate.
