It is a lovely place, the owners are really nice, and the guesthouse is big. Rooms have a/c, and if you happen to stay there, I would suggest you have dinner at the nearby "chef's" restaurant.
The owners were so nice that they helped us the following day with our travel to the harbor!

The Permata is a wonderful guest house located 10 minutes by car from the ferry, and well worth a stay. Many folks stay for one night on their way to the Perhentians, but we stayed 3 nights and had a great, relaxing time. 

We stayed in a comfortable cottage that had several rooms, and kitchenette area (no stove or hot plate, but a kettle and a toaster). The main bedroom had AC. Our hosts were extremely welcoming, offering us bikes so we could ride to the beach (about 20 minutes by bike), fruit from their garden, and a delicious homemade breakfast on our last morning. There are some great local restaurants about a 10-15 minute walk away.

If you've got the flexibility in your schedule, and have any interest in local Malaysian culture, I recommend staying here at least 2 nights, biking around and talking with the hosts. It's a friendly and scenic area, well worth it!

A Gem in Besut

Very quiet place: suitable if you want to do your work such as writing. The rooms, in fact, the whole house is tastefully decorated and extremely clean. It is self-catering with a small camper stove--enough for making simple meals. There are ample kitchen utensils and a small fridge. The owner, Ayah Su and his wife are the nicest hosts: very attentive, generous and helpful. They can also help in arranging for trips to nearby islands. There are bikes provided for guests, which is much appreciated. There is a beautiful small garden with fruit trees at the back of the house.

A lovely safe home away from home

Stayed here for one night before travelling to perhentians! Very reasonable. Only annoyance was when we turned up late at night in the rain there was no one on a reception or similiar. Had to phone & someone came out. All very friendly though & owner dropped in a goody bag later in the eve! Small apartment so bags of space, kitchen, living room & bedroom. 

One night only..

Well, we were forgotten and the guesthouse was closed on arrival but we were able to find the people to settle in that guesthouse and the reception was finally great, very attentive and the owner's brother was very kind. They accompanied us on our stay, took care of the boat tickets to the islands. The accommodation was very nice. We were taken to the port the next day to make sure everything was fine. The guesthouse is quite far from the port but they take care of everything. A very good step before the islands.

Good address

Title says it all. As with a lot of people, this stayover involved a visit to the Perhentians. The main host, the father of the family, gave us a warm welcome in his tropical garden. The place we stayed in was super super tidy and had a bedroom, kitchen
, bathroom and some sort of living room/-hall.

The host's son offered us two bikes to go to a nearby foodstall, gave us local fruits and arranged a transport to the Kuala Besut harbor. The location may be unattractive, since there's not a lot to do around there, but we just needed one night and for that, it was perfect. We really felt at home in this air-conditioned place and we definitely recommend this place to people who need a stayover in Kuala Besut.

Just amazing

We booked the Permata Guesthouse for 2 nights before continuing to Pulau Perhentian. It is certainly one of the expensive accommodations we booked in Malaysia, but it is well worth the money! It is very beautifully designed and clean, has a living area, an air-conditioned bedroom, a small kitchen (without a stove) and a bathroom (typically Malay: shower is not separated). However, the best thing about the accommodation is the hosts, who took us to la hot spring and a waterfall, gave us to try out the apples and fruits and things from their life.

What a great host!

We spent one night in the guesthouse. It was a good decision. A very nice host welcomed us, he was very interested that everything was going well. He provided water, chips and local fruits for free. He helped book the boat to the island and gave good tips. Such people would be happy to leave their money behind. In addition, the accommodation is newly renovated and has a living room, kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. WLAN and TV included. (although there are no English channels.) There are four individual guest houses that look optically nice. Car seating on each host's house. The guesthouse is quiet and is a great place to go. An example of a guesthouse and a guesthouse should be a great place to get around.
