My Place Guest House

The staff at My Place Guesthouse were so accommodating, welcoming and friendly. We had so many questions all the time and they helped us get around Okinawa very easily! The atmosphere is really cool which makes it fun and easy to make friends. The perfect hostel for enjoying your time in Okinawa in a budget!!

Friendly staff and great atmosphere!

Luckily, we stayed here for just one night but positives first.

The staff was really friendly and helpful. The room had an AC and the place is safe.

On the other hand, as soon as you enter the building you can smell they toilets. It's disgusting. The whole place is worn down. The room looked terrible. Our room smelled like pickles. At least there were no bedbugs but we were so afraid that they might have that we did not sleep well. The building is also really noisy. We recommend that the owner and staff start to clean the whole place immediately instead of hanging around because it's so needed! 
We can not understand why this place is so good rated. Just avoid it.

Worn down guesthouse

Stayed one night. Took an aircon room for 45 Ringgits (fan room was 30 Ringgits). The aircon was great, and is a new modern split set type. But the room is very basic. Wooden walls, and only a very tiny set of shelves to put anything on. There was nothing except a bottom cover sheet on the bed but the guy gave me a blanket after requesting an upper sheet. The bed was fairly hard and the pillow hard and lumpy as well. 

Facilities are all shared and downstairs. Cold water shower only but pressure was good. Shoes not allowed in the house which is annoying. The wash basin for cleaning your teeth is very tiny. An upgrade to a larger bowl would be welcome. Wifi worked well.
Checkout is 10am. If I had known this in advance I would never have stayed here. That is way too early. Other places in Malaysia are mostly 12 noon, so why so early here?

Overall it is survivable, but too many negatives that should be addressed.

Very basic accommodation

I have been here 3 times. Every time they have been very welcoming (one time i got there at 1 AM). The 2nd i stayed there they already remembered me. Very nice people that will help you with any information you need. The beds are clean. The wifi is good.

Very good place for a short stop

The guys who carry it are a few cracks, answered all my questions and doubts, recommended me where to eat and what to eat and most importantly, provided me with a couple of nights of the most entertaining and interesting things that travelers enjoy, exchanges of ideas, long conversations, etc. In addition to being clean and having basic necessities, it is very well located and allows you to visit the city on foot... I hope to visit them again someday. Thank you!!!

My place is my place.

The place is Ok for backpackers, for a night to be spent on the way to somewhere else. The place has got some character, old, but not as shabby as some others in KB, and it is well looked after. Breakfast with tea/coffee and toast with jam is offered as free complimentary on Booking.com but I guess is included always. Location is good, with Chinese restaurants and food court, bus station and market/supermarkets within walking distance. Staff was friendly. Better splash out on an air-conditioned room!

Good for the price, might be noisy if all rooms are occupied

I think 90% of the guests stay here for one night to go to the Perkhentians in the morning. Kota-Baru is a kind of transit point for travelers. So we came to drop off things and go to rent a car at the airport. But it turned out that the gesture was empty - there was no one at all) They dropped the suitcase in some convenient room and left to surrender. But when we got back in the evening - everyone was at their place (including our suitcase), and we settled down. The owners of the guesthouse were very kind and caring, as we explained to them and where to buy tickets to the airport.

An interesting gesture with good people.

It was my first guesthouse in Malaysia coming from east Thailand and I felt so good that I stayed there for 18 days instead of a week. Maden and my colleague were super nice, and advised me to eat during Ramadan. The best price ratio of all my two and a half months trip to this beautiful country. A real Malay house, no shoes inside, so always very clean including sanitary facilities. Breakfast is continental (a few toasts, butter, jam) but there is always enough for everyone. The guesthouse is not big which gives it a very family atmosphere and if you spend a good meal you will be angels because the kitchen is super equipped (rather than wok...), then you can visit the Malaysian market, the Malaysian TV, the Malaysian satellite market, and the Chinese market.

The Malay reception is excellent, 18 days and I'd love to go back!

We decided on a room with windows and a fan (which has no windows with air conditioning) and it was very hot. The room was a little unfriendly. Because of the dark carpet floor and the patterned linen canvas, you couldn't tell if it was clean. There was only a knitted ceiling where we couldn't assess whether it was clean, so we used our sleeping bags. The entrance/community room made a welcoming and friendly impression. The staff member was also very kind and helpful.

A super welcome for this very simple and really cheap guesthouse (45 Rm for a double). The rooms are clean (and with a window!) equipped with air conditioning. The shared toilets are correct. The little dej is simple but the coffee and tea are free to serve all day. The real plus is the welcome! The boss and his very nice colleague are happy to give advice to enjoy KB and great restaurants in the area! A very good address for small budgets!
