Nothing much to see. Boring lane with just for teens. Nostalgia feeling frim the old buildings. Car parking can be difficult. Best to take Grab and walk around to enjoy the atmosphere.weather can be very hot and wet. Better time to visit in the late morning to beat the crowd.

Concubine Lane 怡保三奶巷

We (couple) stayed 2 nights at this homestay in Ipoh back mid April 19. We liked it a lot. 

The landlord Mr. John from UK is a fantastic host and as much relaxed as his three cats ;-).  His home is so nicely renovated and tasteful decorated with many old nice pieces of furniture giving you a good impression of how in the early days the people/Chinese may have lived here. 

The accommodation is very well situated at the beginning of the small back road called Concubine Lane (John shall explain you the meaning behind this ;-). Many street art and other attractions has been in walking distance as well as shops, bars and restaurants. 
Ipoh does offer many side-seeing and historical and nature places to see. John is offering compact tours for these, and even up to Cameroon Highlands. 

Our room (with outside window) was practically equipped with a large bed, soft mattress, and AC. The shared bath-room/toilet was big and clean - and never a problem because of sharing. John’s place offers a kitchen and also fridge at free disposal. The place is quiet and we slept well as it’s nice at night. 

We also could park our car just a view meters away and John explained how the parking payment thing works (thx to him we had not a 2nd parking ticket ;-). 

The communication with John was very easy, he provided good tips where to go to, such as the so lovely nice Bar from 1931 just next door. And even before arrival, he was exchanging good information re how to finding his place. 

There is really nothing to complain about this place. All in all a good price-value we think. We can only rate our stay at 27 Concubine Lane very positively - and would always come back here.

Don't miss 27 Concubine Lane when staying at Ipoh!

Super great location in old Town. The pictures gives it an old dusty feel but it was charming and super clean. All double rooms has windows. Comfy bed. Enthusiastic owner, cute cats. Only thing is poor soundproof. Which is expected. Would need to queue for shared toilet (3 upstairs, 2downstairs)  if fullhouse.

Comfortable stay

I stayed with my parents in the family loft of this old house beautifully renovated. It was spacious and bright and the fans were enough to cool us down. The guesthouse is perfectly located, at the heart of old Ipoh a d only a 5mn walk from the bridge to new Ipoh. John and Stephanie, our guests, were real sweethearts, happy to share tips for places of interest and for food.e

Charming renovated old house

You won't regret it here, John (British) is ever so nice, he does the house tour upon check-in. Be very careful at the reception are coz there are antiques all around. There is only 3 rooms (RM100 p/room) with ac all on the 1st flr, shared toilets and bathroom but nothing to worry about. There is also a big room at the attic with 5 beds for a grp or family (RM150 only). NO SMOKING, Eating or drinking in the rooms, u can smoke outside the house. Surrounded by Shops and eatery even next door. A fantastic place to be..

Wonderful Place

Located in the heart of Ipoh, there is an old Chinese house that is very well restored and maintained, it is a place with a special charm. Don't come here looking for a luxury hotel, the luxury is in the surroundings and in the treatment of John, its owner, a charming person and who learns a lot from him, is very proud of his house and wants to make you feel the same, its treatment is extraordinary and always waiting for everything, makes you feel like your own home.

No other buses in Ipoh!

Wonderful heritage house whereby the common area downstairs is selling antiques and other things. Lovely place to live the way of life of the olden days people but please walk softly as not to disturb the other customers in the house. 
Love the residential cats; Tiffy, Ginger and Charlie and of course the manager - John.

Lovely house on heritage lane

A really charming guesthouse... entering this old house, it seems to go back in time. Charming and welcoming, it was definitely one of the best places we stayed in during our trip to Malaysia. Everything was very clean, the common showers worked perfectly and were equipped with everything necessary. The location is excellent as it is located in one of the most famous streets of Ipoh and then in the center of the old city. Also, it was very nice to chat with John, the English owner who turned out to be a very interesting and available person.
