Another Laos guesthouse with paperthin walls and inconsiderate people talking all night- someone on the phone at 10.30 pm talking full volume outside his room; voices chatting at 12.30 midnight, a woman speaking at 4.15 am for more than half an hour. Then the dog started barking. Maintenance began at 7.20 am (a machine sander grinding...)! All the while a sign is posted near reception saying 'Don't wake the baby!' - I guess the guests don't matter!? Shower only worked if you held the nozzle so it didn't go all over the floor, pillows were too high and couldn't be used, bed hard and uncomfortable, wifi dropped out constantly and breakfast was bread and jam with bananas. I don't care how nice they are, this was yet another in a series of low cost personality-less guest houses provided to our group that I would have rather missed! Another third rate sleepless night courtesy of Intrepid tours!

Cooridors that echo loudly with voices and noises all night

Wifi intermittent, television not working, dust from the construction at the end of the hall is throughout the building. Noise from the building workers equiomemt and drills etc. continues all day. No views other then the car park and a very noisy night as well...

Construction zone

Stayed here for nearly 3 weeks and really liked the place. Rooms are good size for 1 person, free tea, coffee, water. Rooms have tv's also and staff seemed friendly enough. Booking at the hotel direct cost me 70,000 a night where as it's more expensive on booking.com. Rooms A5 is a good room to get, corner room so more windows and airflow and it's right on the balcony 

Really good cheap option 

Stayed here for a few nights after walking in from the street. The room had clean sheets, a very good hot shower and towels were provided. 

I'll tell it how it is - in Vang Vieng most budget accommodation is pretty average. If you want somewhere decent to stay you'll need to fork out for it, but you're probably not coming to this town to relax in a nice room, right? Kianethong is pretty basic and would have been totally fine, if not for the miserable people working there. I understand that Laos has a different culture to the West, but these people didn't seem to like that we were staying there, rarely acknowledgeling us or even bothering to reply when we greeted them. A simple smile is a universal communicator in any language or culture, and takes little effort. 

On one particular morning, a very friendly male member of staff was there. We asked him to change our towels, which he happily did. Sadly, we didn't see him again. I'm assuming this is the nice guy other reviews are referring to, and I wish he had been there more. 

The guesthouse was largely empty, which speaks volumes. It's a shame because it's in a great location, a little out of the town which is what attracted me to here in the first place. If the staff had been nicer then I would have had a much better experience. I would not recommend this guesthouse. 

PS. the AC is rubbish too

Location is the best thing 

I Stayed in this place for two nights was very cheap. The guy of the reception is super friendly and he helped me with everything. He advise u about tours and things to do in the town. The room was very simple but very comfy and clean. The location is pretty close to the city center 10 minutes walking. Also have coffee and tea for free.

Good value

We arrived in the evening without booking anything to sleep in. We relied on Lonely Planet who described it as a motel but with neat and recommended rooms...and windows facing the garden...we were given room/location number 1 next to the entrance.looked wall.dirty linen(I woke up full of insect stings!)..the bathroom is a dirty little hole full of pipes with a sheet door and a mosquito nest....the owner told us to only use switches for the light that is next to the front door and not touch the others at all.

Avoid it like the plague

Pessima Guesthouse, unique note for those who want to spend really little and look for a quiet place but do not compensate for the fact that it is out of hand from the center of vangvieng, the wifi present only in one part of the structure and almost never functioning, the dirty room the undefined bathroom and equipped only with cold water.
