While visiting Laos in March, we ate lunch at a new restaurant in Luang Prabant and found the Villa Puck Luck eatery very delightful. After several days of traditional Lao food, it was fantastic to find a Thai place with flavorful food that was not too spicy. The restaurant recently opened after operating for years as a guesthouse. Supol, the chef, was also very friendly and that made it a special treat.

The house, of strict cleanliness, has a lot of charm. Small, tastefully decorated, it is held by a couple full of attention to its customers. He, of Thai origin, makes a refined kitchen, she, Laotian, makes beautiful bouquets of flowers that she goes to the market early to get. They are seconded by Noy, their English-speaking employee, solving the problems and wishes of customers, always charming, with a smile on her lips. We really enjoyed staying.

A lovely stay

The restaurant "Puck Luck Thai" doesn't even have it's own Tripadvisor page, but we accidentally stumbled into it and couldn't have been happier. The atmosphere is beautiful, the food was gorgeous (best Tom Yam soup I ever had, and I had many!) and the service was beyond anything we've experienced anywhere else in Laos. We ordered one starter and two main courses, and the kind (non-English speaking waitress) brought us on top for free a "greeting from the kitchen", free tea and a free dessert.

If I could give 6 points I would do that.

excellent thaï food,a kind chef and warm welcoming and who obviously love cooking. unforgettable and tasty stir-fried Mekong fish, beef salad and excellent dessert. we went to dinner two times within two days

Heritage style hotel near the river and temples. Quiet and clean.
Charming little room well decorated with balcony.
The morning offering to the monks takes place in the street of the guesthouse.
Friendly staff.
Good restaurant.

Cosy Lao Room

We spent five nights in the small boarding house with only five rooms. It is very centrally located in the old town, to the Mekong it was only about 100 meters, where we could always have a very nice breakfast. But soon there will also be a breakfast in the house. The landlord and his mother were always very attentive. He speaks good English. The service is good. There is even a bathroom in the bathroom. All the windows are fenced. In a few minutes you can walk around the old town. The guests are busy, but not loud. In the morning the monks walk right past the house on their charity walkway shortly after 6:00.

Headquartered and family-run

If you like backpacker accomodation in heritage style, this is the place to stay. 
Unfortunately it did not appeal to us. We had the rooms on the groundfloor, which were dark. smelly and overall unpleasant. The only great thing was the powerful and hot shower! Lots of stray dogs barking all night and you hear every flush from any toilet in the building. Breakfast is not worth mentioning. We went outside to get a decent meal instead. We felt bad for the lady who managed the place, since she was very friendly, but we left after one night.

Dark place

The hotel is well situated, the villa is small and beautiful, the room is very tastefully decorated and the bed is very comfortable, but the breakfast is quite fair, the room is not very spacious and I find it too expensive for the services provided (I paid 65 dollars a night).

It's a little expensive.

We had a very small room on the ground floor, but it was all in good condition. The rooms on the first floor are probably better. The staff are friendly but speak very little English. The breakfast is included in the price (50 US dollars) and it's good with fresh baguette and orange juice.
