We had a terrible stay and would not recommend staying - the room was dirty and moldy. We asked to change rooms but were given another room just as bad. The pictures are definitely not accurate, for the budget rooms at least. 

The staff were friendly until we told them we wanted to leave after one night and be reimbursed for the second night we had booked but would not stay for as my friend was getting sick because of the moldiness. One of the staff and the owner became aggressive, shouting at us and threatening us if we wrote about our experience online.

If you are in Luang Namtha, I would recommend staying at Zuela instead - the rooms are much nicer even though cheaper.

Terrible stay

A very dirty room (sticky/oily floor, mold-covered bathroom, mushrooms on the bedroom walls, from the first few minutes in the room you can smell the bad air quality - asthmatic people refrain!) Ultra-basic, bland and tasteless breakfast. We've obviously shortened our stay.

A place to avoid...!

Amazing guesthouse. Centrally located. Clean and spacious rooms, nice breakfast included, with comfortable beds. Very friendly and helpful staff, they make things very easy for you. It was a great pleasure to stay here and I would absolutely recommend this place.

Amazing

We spent three nights at Amandra Villa and we found the staff very friendly and trying hard to speak English to each other. Breakfast is very good. Okay, there's a little dust in the rooms and the walls are a little thick. But that didn't bother us. We recommend this hostel.

Very good price ratio

Room was clean but run down feeling. Fan OK but didn't swivel, no AC, toilet very odd and no separation (door/curtain) from rest of room. Owner helpful enough but when he wasn't around service wasn't great. Limited choices in the town so this is good enough, and you can easily walk up to the other guesthouses and restaurants

I lived in the Amandra Villa for 6 nights and felt very comfortable there. After extending from three to six days, I got the best room with 2 windows and a north side (cooler) at no extra cost. The young owner speaks very good English, his wife and a co-worker are very concerned about the well-being of the guests. Room 08 has double size, rattan walls, a beautiful wooden seating area and aircon. Breakfast is included and the house is 300 metres from the tourist district with many restaurants and the night market (before tourist info). Recommended! See

A family-run guesthouse

We stayed in two different rooms. The first one was on the top floor and was quite large, with a big window and seating area. It was fairly clean and we got a good night's sleep. When we returned after a trek we had to stay in a room on the first floor and it was terrible. There was mold everywhere and it was very small. I would highly recommend spending a bit more money for a better room

Pay for nicer room

Rooms are in poor condition, dirty, rotten walls, we had paid for an upper room that was not given to us, the reception is miserable, the woman doesn't speak where she doesn't want to speak English but besides she's absolutely not smiling and doesn't even answer when she's greeted! Breakfast is a joke, served by the prison door. I really don't recommend it.

I'd never go back to that!

We're in northern Laos, we can be generous with the staff who do their best to make your stay enjoyable, located near the Night Market and all the travel agencies, excellent drop-off point before and after a trek.

Correct

Very simple hotel, simple but good breakfast. The room was on the side of the road, the walls were made of bamboo and it was very noisy.
