Wonderful old colonial French house with quirky elevator and amazing wall hanging textiles in the rooms. Very interesting photos on the walls throughout. Super friendly and helpful staff. Easy tuc/tuc to the market for a lively and entertaining ride from the wet market to  Champasak.

The staff were excellent.  The property was poorly maintained and in need of total refurbishment.  Ripped cushions and mattress, broken blinds, broken pop up sink plug.  Spare pillows were stained and had no pillowcases.  There was no staff in the bar/ restaurant on an evening.

You feel like going back to the past in this charming place. A warm welcome by Mrs Sisouk who owns the place. We wanted to have dinner, but did not know we had to book it, as the place is more a guesthouse than a traditional hotel. However Mrs Sisouk accepted to have a meal prepared for us and even offered us a glass of aperitive, which we greatly appreciated!

A charming place!

Pakse feels like a remote outpost where Residence Sisouk is a haven. Great food at the café, veeeeery good coffee, and honest breakfast at the rooftop restaurant. Folks, this place is well managed unlike most venues in this part of the world. Good service is an unknown commodity here unless you stop at this simple and honest as it comes place. I recommand.

Old hotel in a central location. Large room, terrible shower, malfunctioning a/c

After checking in you need to take the elevator. The elevator has grilled doors on both sides, and only one person with their luggage can fit at a time. I did not know how to operate this elevator, or wanted to use such an old elevator, so reluctantly chose to use the stairs.

Room is large and dated. Hard uncomfortable mattress. Shower is tiny and badly designed. The shower head was placed too high so that when you turn on the water the shower head spreads water all over the bathroom and not on the person taking the shower. I had to use my towels to dry the puddles of water on the floor.

The worse part was the air conditioning. The air conditioning was working but not cooling the room. I woke up in the middle of the night sweating and could not go back to sleep.

Breakfast staff does not speak English. They served me an egg, baguette, jam, water, cut up banana and papaya, juice, and coffee, no espresso drinks.

I don’t know if there are better options in Pakse, but I would not want to stay here again.

Old hotel, terrible shower

Small hotel with colonial charm nicely decorated two steps from the market and the Mekong where it would seem that the weather has stopped impeccable service, simple but correct room, breakfast served at the table on the top floor offering a small view of the city

A lot of charm

Very pleasant hotel, beautifully decorated, warm and welcoming. Spacious and clean rooms, very good bedding. Breakfast  French  copious, varied, succulent! Pleasant staff, listening, smiling. Mrs. Sisouk, the French-speaking owner, was very available and provided us with many services and provided us with valuable and accurate information.

Comfortable and warm

Had an amazing stay! The staff were super attentive and absolutely love their elevator - definitely a unique experience and a pleasant surprise I did not expect. There were also some free bananas at the lobby during our stay, and it was very welcoming. 

Loved their lift 

The Residence is a lovely hotel. It's owner, a charming and lovely lady who speaks fluent English,  who also cooks the most delicious Laotian food is on hand together with her lovely staff to give guests va most enjoyable experience. Our room was large, the bed very comfortable and the bathroom well equipped. The hotel laundry was excellent. Pakse is interesting. Do not expect 5* luxury but the warmth of the service and the kindness of the Laotian people is double that. If we ever return to Pakse, we would stay again.

French Colonial with much kindness

The hotel is ideally located in the heart of Pakse.. it is very charming and the owner of the place is very kind... the rooms are clean and very well maintained... and the elevator alone deserves the ride... very certainly the slowest in the world!!!! But it goes well with the rhythm of the sweetness of life that we feel in this place.... what a pity that the coffee of the same name located below is not up to the standard....
