Very typical older Japanese Ryokan, with no elevator. We were on 3rd floor, but view was worth it. Hotel was full with tour buses, and breakfast buffet was strictly oriental in variety, with one poor little toaster oven serving 60 people for toast. We used public transport and arrived at Yamanakako-Hirano Visitor Center, where we asked the nice lady there to call the hotel for pick-up. Within a few minutes, our ride arrived, and check-in was smooth. Our room did not have a shower, only toilet and separate wash basin. Hotel let us use room's shower across the hallway the 1st night, and we did without for the 2nd night. Mifuji is a 10-minute walk to bus, so the shuttle is handy. Our room was large - 15 tatami mats in size, with flat-screen TV, fridge, and usual amenities. We didn't use the traditional public bath, reportedly a natural hot spring.

The best thing about this hotel is the view.  It's very close to Mount Fuji. The view is just stunning!

The room was huge and clean. The bathroom was tiny tho.

The breakfast was ok.  The food is simple and plentiful.

There's a couple of tourist groups on the day i was there... whenever there's tourist group, it means it's noisy and crowded.

The "hot springs" wasn't really hot spring, it felt more like heated water.

The staff tried very hard to help us but only one of them spoke English... so, it was a bit inconvenient.

Nice view, relaxing neighborhood

Dian M's review below has covered almost overall situation about this hotel. Hard to find, old, bad facilities,etc. In addition, this hotel over advertising; the room doesn't look like what they advertised at all, they use fuji-view room to advertise all 18-tatami rooms on the website which misguide people. Outdoor onsen is close, the indoor one is terrible as it is very small, old and dirty. We have been to many Ryokan around Japan(at lease 30+place), the onsen here is one of the worst. The only acceptable thing about this place is the food, dinner and breakfast are quite okay (7/10). As for other things here i would give 1/10 thus overall score is 1/5. I suggest anyone who see this review to avoid this place unless you got a very cheap deal. 

One of worst we have ever visited

First of all, it is hard to find. The telephone/address they put in their website direct us to a location which is not their hotel. Tried to call them after went around and around and only after 3rd call they pick. They ended up giving a telephone number of a neighbor pension and it works. Apparently this is their SOP when someone got lost.
They hotel maybe a good one in their hey day in.... 1980s, but it is just too old. All facilities and furniture are of that period, no renewal.
I am not usually a complaining guest and easy to pleased, but what can you say when you have a room with manual kerosine heater (which is dangerous to run all night long, exhaust can kill, and smell of kerosine) and out side temperature is -4c. The wall is thin, and I feel too cold at night without heater feel like doing camping in tent in winter. 
If you have old parents, little kids or baby, maybe you want to avoid.
The onsen is just so small and roof is dirty with moss.
Surrounding is nothing, the things to do in hotel like their very very old pool table, comic room (very old) is chargable.
Food is colossal, nothing special, if you are thinking of fine ryokan food, this is far from it.
I give two rating for their honesty. My girl and me accidentally left our purses at lobby and just realized it in the morning. The hotel staff kept it and everything is intact.
They don't accept credit card. I know some traditional ryokan and small pension don't, but this one is quite big size but they still hang on to 1980s style.

I would stay here again.  it's 3 star ish - but not small.  Nice large room, with futons and also a sitting area with real chairs.  Good effective heaters (very important in April!).  Functional standard "Japanese style" bathroom.  The included Dinner was a hotpot style with many ingredients - we were starving so ate the lot. 
 Finding this place is VERY hard - recommend you print out a map before you arrive or have a GPS etc.  The locals in the same village not 100m away didn't know where it was and sent us to the other end of the lake!  We later found out the hotel is only 5 mins walk from the Highway bus stop. Didn't use the Onsen but it looked nice when I poked my head in.  They have massage chairs, billiards, Japanese Manga.  Views of Fuji from some rooms.  The staff were very kind - especially when we ended up at the other end of the lake and came and fetched us - they got extra points for doing that.
