It's a fancy hotel to spend with a couple.

I do not hesitate to give this hotel a five-star rating, it is not because it is a luxurious resort or anything like that, but because of the experience you will get and the friendly service. Dinner and access to the onsen bath is included in the room fee, we chose a traditional room with tatami mats on the floor, though there are "standard" rooms as well. The onsen area is rather large and spotlessly clean; four pools/tubs inside and one outside, all but the "cooling-off" -pool had scolding water, just as it should be (don't worry, it is much nicer than it sounds!) . The onsen is open to the people of the village too, so you will get a glimpse of the life in a rural Japanese town as a bonus. It is open more or less 24-7 as well, should you feel like a bath late at night, for instance.
The dinner was a sheer cavalcade of different courses, all tasty examples of the local cuisine. Our waiter spoke perfect English, having lived in Canada and helped us by explaining what we had in front of us on our plates. The front desk was equally friendly (even though it was only the manager who spoke English), the sent us an email before our arrival, asking us if we had any special requests, etc. It is not expensive, either.
In short; an experience we will not forget.
