Only 12min of walking (according to Google Map) from Hakone-Yumoto station, but turned out to be the hardest walk due to the incline for the last 5min of it. I don't want to exaggerate, but it felt like at least a 25 degrees angle and when you're dragging luggage up, you're going to need to take multiple breathers on that narrow road. If the taxi price is reasonable, I'd recommend taking the taxi from the station. The other review mentions a bus that goes to Azito Guesthouse, but we didn't know we needed it. 

Compared to this steep hill, getting our luggage up a narrow steep flight of stairs to our 3rd floor apartment was pretty easy; the friendly receptionist helped with 1 of our bags. The apartment itself was quite nice and spacious, with a kitchenette and balcony. There was no TV and we found the mattress a bit too soft. There was not enough room in the bathroom to hang old and new clothes at the same time. This apartment's nightly cost was about the same as our Kyoto hotel.

Cozy and fun hostel

Cozy little guesthouse. We stayed in a two bed room in the main building, room was super cute with traditional tatami beds. Location was great and staff helpful. We felt like home and would have stayed longer if we could!

Cozy gueathouse

My sister and me stayed here for 3 nights. The location is great to explore Hakone and the various hot springs. There is a bust stop just a few steps away from the hostel. We slept well in a cozy capsule (wooden box) which was bigger than expected. We never used the shower rooms as we visited a hot spring every evening. Before bed we enjoyed a drink or two at the lovely Azito bar. We recommend Umeshu Soda :)

Overall, good if you bring your own stuff

The apartment was nice and had a big deck. The only issue was carrying luggage up 3 flights of stairs. Very spacious apartment area and a great value. Would definitely go back for longer next time!

I realy enjoyed my stay there. Staff was nice cabins were cool. Meet some nice people too.

Would like to thank  everyone at Azito for the enjoyable stay me and my wife had last night.

The bed was really comfortable and pillows fluffy.

The amenities were also well above the price we paid.

The bar downstairs was also top notch. Even though a little small it was friendly and well priced for the tourist trap that is hakone.

I would recommend to everyone who wants a comfortable stay.

Fun night, great host and a comfy bed

GuestHouse Azito is a great place to stay in the Hakone area. Just a short walk up the hill from the Hakone Yumoto station, or catch the K bus if you’ve got your luggage with you.
The double capsule ‘rooms’ are wood lined, private and cosy with room to spread out, and USB plugs for charging devices. The communal showers and bathroom facilities are clean. Rent a towel for ¥100. 
There is a small communal area with a bar serving drinks - we got one free each, and they also serve snacks and have kitchen facilities. There is a 7/11 nearby for snacks and supplies. Lots of nice restaurants a short walk away. Breakfast was ¥400 with scrambled eggs and teriyaki chicken on toast - delicious! Free tea and coffee available. Free wifi. Lockers available for your luggage, and they’ll look after it for you until checkin time at 4pm.  
The bus outside the door goes to lake Ashi or back to the station.  Buy a Hakone free pass to get free usage of all the public transport in the area.
The staff were really friendly and pointed out all the local attractions and places to eat. 
The area has heaps of things to see and do. We stayed two nights.
Highly recommended for people who enjoy staying in backpackers style accommodation.
