We absolutely loved this hotel. Our room (one with a private onsen on the terrace) was huge and had everything we could possibly have needed - fridge/freezer with complimentary sparkling wine and water. Tea, coffee and biscuits. Nightly chocolates. Tons of bathroom amenities and a range of clothing to wear in the resort and in the room. 
Our private onsen was the perfect temperature and had a fantastic view of Fujisan. 
The bed was huge and comfy. 
Lighting was really intelligently placed and there were plenty of plug sockets too. 
The food in the restaurant (4 courses plus anything you want from the buffet!) was excellent both nights and they kindly adapted one course to suit us as we don’t eat meat. 
Breakfast was generous too with a range of Japanese, other Asian and Western options. 
There were few Westerners staying when we were there. The English language skills of the staff is variable but with smiling, guessing and google translate we all managed to make ourselves understood and we found everyone very friendly and patient with our horrible Japanese! 
All in all, our stay was perfect and we hope to return one day soon!

Perfect hotel with first rate view

So glad I booked a room here after much deliberation because it was definitely the highlight of my trip! I only wished I could have stayed more than 1 night. 

The check-in service was very personalised whereby my mum and I got to enjoy tea in the lobby while a staff checked us in, and personally escorted us to our room.

The spacious room was well set up and clean. What I loved most was the panoramic views of the lake and Mt Fuji. We were extremely lucky that we got to see Mt Fuji with the cherry blossoms in full bloom right in front of the hotel. We tried both the private onsen (3000 yen for 50 minutes) and public onsen and had good experiences with both. Most importantly, they were clean and well-maintained. 

Our half board included dinner at Hana's, a Korean BBQ restaurant, and breakfast buffet in the hotel. 

Would definitely come back again!

Highlight of my trip

For the last night of our vacation we decided to splurge and get a room here with a private onsen on the balcony.  The day we checked in was cold and rainy and even though we didn't have a view of Mt Fuji relaxing in the bath was delightful and gave us some much needed rest.  We woke up very early the next morning with the most spectacular view of Mt Fuji you could ever imagine.  It was absolutely breathtaking!  
This property is top notch.  Outstanding service from beginning to end.  The room was gorgeous and dinner was delicious as well.  You won't go wrong if you decide to stay here.

The perfect ending to our trip

This hotel offers a majestic view of Mt Fuji. We were there end of March and didn't expect much as we read that the best time to get a clear view of Mt Fuji was mid to late April. But we got super lucky. We could see the beautiful mountain in full glory from the hotel room and even better while enjoying the cool air on the balcony of our room and while having a leisurely breakfast at the hotel restaurant. The staff at Kukuna went out of their way to make us feel comfortable, from the staff member who personally attended to us upon our arrival to the one who sent the 2 of us to Kawaguchiko Station outside of the scheduled time when we made the request. Kukuna hotel is rather pricey but the wonderful staff, the comforts it offers guests and the serenity of its location more than make up for the price. And that view of Mt Fuji? That one's worth a million bucks.

The best view of Mt Fuji

My husband had booked Kukuna after being disappointed of the views of Mt. Fuji in other areas, such as Hakone.  Kukuna is one of a kind. We had initially booked a room with only a private terrace due to availability shown online, but upon arrival we inquired about a room with a private onsen and they were able to accommodate us.  The views were incredible. They have a gift store in the bottom of the hotel where you can buy beer & wine due to limited operating hours at their bar.  Dinner was included in the price, which was good (better than I had initially expected- but do not come here solely for the food).  I am shocked that this hotel is not on the top of every list. It is worth the extra time to travel to Lake Kawaguchi! Wonderful experience.

Perfect Location, Great View and Big Room.

The Hotel located just opposite Lake Kawaguchi, so from our room balcony we could take photoshoot with the background of Lake Kawaguchi and Mount Fuji.

The room is spacious, it can fit 5 person ( my wife, I, and three kids )

I will definitely come back next time

Absolutely Amazing Experince

in-room Onzen is the best..though we got a bit of mountain-blocked room for Fuji but still we enjoyed the stay pretty much. The food here is superb with selections of variety. THe staffs are nice with good English proficiency.

Great food, beautiful view

Everything was great, good view of mt. Fuji from room, but there is no body lotion (best room type with private onsen, ¥88,000 per night), have to go the public onsen to get them.

一切都很好，房間有很好的富士山景觀，最麻煩是房間沒有潤膚露（訂的是最優的帶私人風呂房型，房價每晚¥88,000），潤膚露只放在公眾溫泉，這是唯一麻煩的地方。

I love the design of the room with private onsen

其中一個最好欣賞富士山嘅位就一定係河口湖，而河口湖周圍都有好多唔同嘅溫泉旅館。本身想住嘅Shuhoukaku Kogetsu 秀峰閣 湖月full咗，所以就揀咗都好受好評嘅The Kukuna風のテラスくくな。論景觀呢間溫泉旅館真係冇得輸，對住河口湖遠望富士山嘅美景，而且佢嘅溫泉分咗室內同室外，同樣都係可以一路浸住溫泉一路對住個富士山。早餐都相當唔錯，唯一要挑剔嘅就係嗰度嘅員工有啲冷淡，好似冇咗一般熱情嘅待客之道。⁣

Lake Kawakuchi is one of the best spots to view Mount Fuji. The Kukuna offers a great view of Mount Fuji from the room and also the hot spring. Super relaxing! However, the staffs were a bit cold.⁣

Ever wanted to enjoy your private onsen with view on Mount Fuji.
Look no further, this is the place to be.
The luxury suites offer a great experience; although with a very small bathroom.
Though you'll get fully compensated with the extraordinary view from your private onsen on to Mt Fuji and Lake Kawaguchiko.
We were lucky to enjoy a clear view on to Mt Fuji combined with the Sakura. Extraordinary.
In case you're not planning on paying the big bucks, would recommend to go for a different hotel.  Simply because the rest of the hotel and its amenities are not on par.
Limited breakfast options, limited facilities, a bit further away from the city.  Dinners varied along our stay; some were excellent, some others disappointed.
For Western visitors, English language skills aren't available all through the staff.  So it becomes somewhat difficult to communicate with the staff on occasions.
