Evergreen Malahide B&B

I’ve always dreamt of a perfect bed and breakfast in Ireland, with the perfect host, and i hit the jackpot on my first try! When planning our trip I had to choose between staying in Dublin to experience the hustle and bustle, or choose a suburb for more of a calm escape with easy city access. Then I had to decide whether to use AirBnB or trust that a place like Evergreen Bed & Breakfast would fit our needs, even though I couldn’t book online. I emailed back and forth with the host, Olive, and found those first exchanges to be very pleasant so I trusted my gut and reserved the dates. She was very accommodating, even when I realized I booked the wrong dates! Our plane landed very early around 5am, we picked up our rental car and headed toward Malahide. Upon arriving I realized I had never made arrangements to show up so early! Check in wasn’t until the afternoon, so we drove to downtown Malahide, (short 10-15 min drive), and took gorgeous pictures of an Irish East Coast sunrise. It took my breath away!! We stopped at Starbucks to connect to WiFi and contact Olive, who agreed to hold our bags while we went into the city for the day. That night we were exhausted and fell asleep before the sun went down. We slept like babies, the room was comfortable and had a clean and private en suite. We sat in the breakfast room with beautiful big windows looking out into the garden. There were plenty of things available to fix ourselves a breakfast of cereal, toast, fruit, tea/coffee etc, but Olive provides an actual menu and will make you anything you like within reason! We split a traditional Irish breakfast which was filling and delicious. The next day we were so sad to leave, every interaction with Olive was so pleasant we really miss her hospitality. When we booked the reservation she requested we pay in cash, which we did right before leaving on our last day. I look forward to visiting again one day :)
