Rooms were clean and neat...food was amazing with excellent helpful staff...receptionist and helpers were quite sweet and very helpful....thanks for your good hospitality...I would definitely suggest tourists this hotel

Booked the standard room with a picture given of the Deluxe Room... needless to say were shocked by the actual size when we arrived....

Nothing was ready.... short staffed... boasted of amenities that they couldn't ultimately provide like: Spa, Gym, transport, electricity, wifi etc

Location not that great as it is cloistered on all sides by houses so you never really get a decent view and the upgraded room even though big felt claustrophobic as we couldn't open any windows...

walk from right of hotel will make you realise that it's situated lower than Lal Market beyond the taxi stand near Denzong Cinema Hall...easily 20 mins NOT 5 mins
walk to your left from hotel with lead you on a steep rise but comparatively closer but not less than 15 mins worth of uphill walk to the foot bridge...

WE WERE LUCKY TO HAVE THE KITCHEN STAFF---- WHICH TURNED OUT TO BE THE REDEEMING FACTOR DURING OUR STAY.... 

GOOD FOOD...a bit slow to serve but good nonetheless

overall not that good an experience for me.... i did NOT want to go back every day for(2N) in the evening whenever i thought about my room...

MISREPRESENTED

We stayed here for 2 days in October - 2015. Well to start of with the properly does not have any view - at all! For those of you looking for a Hotel with a scenic view of Gangtok - this is exactly not the Hotel for you. Amidst a lot of Hotels in Gangtok with excellent views you would expect that Ida Lakar makes it up by having a decent property and providing good service. But we where hugely disappointed at both the fronts. The standard room is very congested, the whole feeling of staying underground is nauseating! Even though the windows of the rooms are shut, we always could smell some foul odour coming from a chimney close by! If this wasn't enough the moment we turned on the water tap in the bathroom there was some water flowing out from the other side of the drain. Our constant requests to look into the issue did not initiate any action from the management. This wasn't the last of our problems. I have an Airtel Sim and the network at the Hotel was just pathetic! For two days i had to get out of the hotel to make calls or check my mail! I requested the management to turn on the wifi(even if it is on paid basis) but i was simply put off by saying that the wifi wasn't working and there is nothing they can do. I asked them if i could use the internet connection on the receptions desktop computer , i was informed that they do not have any internet connection! So here i am at a hotel without a proper mobile network and no means of communicating with the outside world. I don't blame the hotel for the poor mobile network but the least the management can do is to atleast provide its guest with a proper wifi connection.
I am not a very critical reviewer and i understand that every property has certain issues which can be ignored but Ida Lakar has issues which needs to be addressed by the management immediately.

Highly not Suggested!

We stayed at the place around new year and our experience was really bad. There were electricity problem, water problem, staff was rude and not at all supportive and at the end they really did little when we complained about the problems we faced.
