Francis Homestay

We had a nice cooking experience with Rosy and great diner with typical Indian flavor. We do recommend this experience with family or friends. Not fare from the city center, Rosy and Francis have few rooms for guests with a surprising inhouse garden. 

We were made very welcome by Rosy and Francis to their lovely home. Rosy demonstrated how she cooked several dishes and answered any questions we had about the ingredients and cooking method. It was really interesting to observe this and then (the most important part) we went into their dining room where we were served by Francis the delicious product of all her hard work.The meal, as expected, was perfection. Francis told us that if we left an email address he would send copies of the recipes, and indeed he did so very promptly. 
This event was one of the highlights of our trip to India. Valerie and Terry McKnight

Great cooking experience 

Cookery Demonstration and Meal

We stayed in 3 different homestays during our time in Fort Cochin. This was definitely poor in comparison to the others. It wasn't very clean (the sheets were stained and the bathroom was dirty). This was the most expensive of the three, most likely due to it's central location, but you're better off staying a bit further out as it is extremely noisy!

The staff were pleasant, but not particularly friendly or welcoming as you'd expect in a homestay.

The biggest downside (and a pretty big issue!) was that the water kept shutting off. The toilet would not flush and we couldn't shower sometimes because we literally had zero water!!

Overall, I wouldn't stay here again. If you do your research there are plenty of better homestays around the area at the same price (sometimes cheaper!!).
