For stays on or after January 1, 2021, citizens of Colombia and foreigners staying 60 consecutive days or more will be charged a 19% national sales tax by the property at the time of stay. Foreigners on a tourist visa will not be required to pay this tax. The tax may be charged where a room is shared by a taxable and a non-taxable guest.

Guests may be required to pay VAT (19%) at the property. Nonresident travelers who pay using a foreign card or bank transfer and present a valid passport and tourist visa may be exempt from value-added tax (19%) on tourist package bookings (accommodation plus other travel service).

The guest also will not pay it if they follow 3 conditions. First — the guest has to be a foreigner and not stay in Colombia for 180 consecutive days in Columbia. Second — entry stamp migration must be mark as Tourism permit on the guest's passport.

Third — the guest has to choose package tourism from the beginning. If one of the conditions is not followed, the guest will pay the taxes.
