The time spent at Chaltunha was amazing! Niel is really attentive and provides us with good advice and services.
The bungalows are located in a large and really nice garden. You can also enjoy remarkable facilities like a swimming pool and a terrace, both with views of the Isla de Flores!
Everything was perfect!

Amazing place!

The hostel is in San Miguel, a 3min Boat ride from Flores. Boats are readily available all day for 5Q and can be ordered by Neil any time to get into Flores. He even gave us the 2-min ride down to the shore at 5am. The place is incredible with a cold pool against the heat, nice bungalows and a cute baby dog. Amazing view over flores and surroundings from the terrace or the pool. We were happy to have dared to leave the city for this. Would definitely stay there again, rather than in the city!

Very kind owner, beatiful, peaceful place

***This hostel is not on Flores !!! *** 

It is a short boat ride from Flores and last boat is at 10pm. The real location should be shown on the map, not Cafe Ukka which was very misleading. We were picked up by a lovely man called Mario who seems to be the gardener there.
The owner was friendly and helpful - we were very sick for 2 days and he was really helpful during that and kindly took us to the pharmacy. However, he was hardly around and there is no reception at the hostel or a restaurant and there is almost nothing on the island. The rooms really need some re-doing, the shower was terrible (no hot water), no hand soap, no lights leading the 30 metre path to the rooms and wifi doesn't reach any of the rooms either. 
With a beautiful view over Flores, and it being family run- the hostel has potential to be really nice and homey, however we felt a little bit more of a burden than guests to be honest.  


Hostel needs a lot of work

Unfortunately, as I just read in the few posts before mine, the same thing happened to me. I spent a great couple of days at Chaltunha Hostel. Neil, the owner, was so extremely helpful and super friendly. I really thought the best of him. But now, as I'm back home, I realised, that USD 60 have been charged on my credit card 2 months later. Despite having paid the full amount in cash just when I arrived! At the time of my check in, Neil accepted cash only and never seemed to have any change at hand. Back then, I didn't think much about it. Unfortunately, I can't recommend a stay at Chaltunha anymore.

Credit Card charged but already paid

We have been there for a few days in April 2017. Now, 2 month later the Chaltunha charged our Credit Card 60$. Fortunately Mastercard blocked immediately the creditcard. 
By the way, the restaurant was closed, no food available. It looks like "On the descending branch".
The best was the swimming pool and the view to Flores.

Warning

The hostel is very quiet and not directly on the island of Flores. The crossing pee boat costs 5Q per lane. The rooms are clean and are in individual huts, so you hardly hear from the neighbors. The showers were quite old and could be renovated. Neil, the operator, is super friendly and helps you with all the concerns you have.

Nice hostel.

We met the hostel almost by chance, contacted the owner by mail and without any problems.He himself went to look for us on the island and took us to the hostel (which is on the other side of the lake).A very good care, good food, a very modest and quiet bar and (best of all) a privileged view of Flores and all its beauty!

A simple and beautiful place.

This hostel is really cool! We would be expected to arrive in Flores right away and the owner called the boat to pick us up, after 5 minutes of boat ride we arrived on the other side and the owner drove us to the premises with his car 3 min ca! We had a private bungalow with our own bathroom! Really nice delicious large own porch! Dinner was the hammer vegetable plate:) even a vegan breakfast was absolutely no problem! You feel immediately welcome and you notice the warmth total ;) I can only recommend and the view of Flores is crazy

It's a pleasure.

It's a beautiful place, although it's a little hard to find one has to communicate with the administrator so that I can receive them on arrival. My experience on that island was magical, a beautiful luncheon as well as a great sunset. The service was quite good, very attentive. I would really recommend the place, there is WiFi and its facilities are large and at a good price. With hot water in the shower and also offer indoor tourism until a beautiful dawn in the tikal. A great experience and good treatment. The surroundings are quiet enough to spend tasting on the street or in the restaurants. Very nice everything.

We spent four nights there. Neill is the best host ever. He is always very friendly and totally helpful in all matters surrounding Flores. Everything we booked about him worked perfectly, including the trip to Antigua. We were allowed to leave our luggage all day at the hostel on the day of departure, free of charge. We also got the drinking water free. Neill also offered us to use the garden and pool in the Chalt in San Miguel during the day. If you want to have peace, you might want to use the hostel.
