As soon as I got back from Skiathos a week ago, I almost by chance came across Akis, the manager of Villa Melia. Apart from being an exceptional person and always available, his property is in an excellent position, one km from the centre of Skiathos, and an excellent base to reach all the beaches.

Great experience!

We stayed for six nights in this beautiful villa with swimming pool and private parking. The room is equipped with a cooking and refrigerator corner, and enjoys a beautiful sea view from the terrace. The cleaning is done every day. Akis, the owner, is a very kind and available person, came to pick us up at the airport and gave us many useful tips on the island and on things to do and see during our stay. Super cute even the puppy Daisy!

That's great!

Where to begin? A fellow guest suggested that giving somewhere too high a review can contribute to the facility becoming too popular and going off limits to the reviewer. I can see that. But I can't fault this wonderful place. The views from the pool/breakfast terrace are as good as any on this beautiful little island. 200 yards, sod metres, away is a lovely little beach, Vassilias. From there a regular water taxi service to the splendid, busy yes, Skiathos town. There are dozens of 4.5+ trip advisor restaurants. The town is a mile away to walk. The Villa Melia is run expertly by Akis, his mother and his staff. The rooms are clean, airy, large and everything works. Some have the amazing views. The buffet breakfast is excellent. If you like animals we have the gorgeous dog, Daisy, and two cheeky cats. If you are a miserable sod, don't worry they won't trouble you. Akis can take you to the airport and he typifies the Greek service ethic. So, five stars all round, one the best holiday villas I have ever been to. A downside? Unless you are struggling to walk, it's fine, but the hill drive is a bit steep. Keeps you fit! Skiathos I'm told is very busy in peak season. Fortunately I came in mid September. Great island for beaches, walking, nature, eating and cats!

Fabulous.

You get a personal welcome and friendly service from this family owned hotel. We were given both a lift to the hotel and then to the airport at the end, all as a friendly courtesy.
It offers some of the best views being a little higher up the hill than some of the other coastal hotels.
There is a small bar, and tasty breakfast, and the pool  is in a lovely setting. 
It's not the most modern, but that adds to the charm, and the aircon works well, and the rooms are clean and tidy with small kitchenettes / fridges if you want to prepare some food yourselves.
The bus stops nearby (stop 7) and it's a 5 minute walk up the (steep) hill to the hotel.

Charming family owned hotel a mile outside Skiathos town, with great views

The views are spectacular and the swimming pool.is lovely. The owner.was on hand.and very helpful. Apartment was clean and the air conditioning worked well. We are a family of 5 and had the 2 bed apartment but it was a bit small for 5 and only had one.bathroom. The bathroom was small, outdated and the shower was a challenge. The double bed is two singles pushed together. 
The location is good, in walking distance to the beach and water taxi to the port. 
I would stay here again but in two apartments. 
I struggled with the rating between 3 and 4. I chose the higher one as they cant really do much about the size of the apartment and it would be fine for less than 5 people. 

This is basic Greek accommodation so expectations should be managed accordingly. 

Great view - adequate accommodation 

We stayed at the beginning of August. Already at the time of booking the owner Akis seemed to us a very available person, and all this was confirmed on our arrival. The property is 7 minutes' drive from the airport... Akis accompanied us to install the Quads, also taking care of the contract with the tenants, and on our return he accompanied us to the airport at 7.30 am! The property has a garden and swimming pool very pleasant, is close to 2/3 of the beaches and the center.

Little jewel

We stayed some days at this place and really liked it. Very nice owner, great view from swimmingpool and balcony. Clean studio, welcome wine etc. 
If you like walking it was easy to walk to the town for restaurants. Nice small beach near the location and bus stop in front.
The only reason not giving a 5 rating was the bathroom which was a bit outdated and difficult to shower.

Villa Melia has a spectacular location overlooking the sea. I have a hotel with everything necessary. Cleanliness kindness availability. A perfect stay. We will definitely return. Thanks to Akis always attentive and kind and very available staff and especially to Akis' very kind mother for the koulourakia smika recipe!!!!! Fantastika!! Molis ta fiaxame. Siygaritiria!!!

A wonderful vacation.

I immediately fell in love with the view from the pool, a dream come true that made me forget the climb to reach it every time beyond the view from the room where we loved breakfast.

Holidays

We stayed in this property and the advice is for both couples and families. The owner and staff are very courteous, nice, comfortable apartments, ours also had a stunning view. And what about the soft drinks and the fresh beer you can sip by the pool? Everything very nice. Great location: just outside the chaos of the town, on the main road, served by frequent shuttles x the beaches.
