Travelers be aware! Alex the owner of Kasteli is a criminal who will be going to jail for assaulting me with a baseball bat. Like a cowered Alex and a younger man came up a block or two to assault me after a verbal argument about a bathroom. This guy not only initially spoke to me in a very rude way when we asked politely if we can use the bathroom but then proceeded to verbally offend me and my cousin. We then left the to go find a bathroom somewhere else. When then I had to pass his establishment in order to get back to my car, he saw me and continued to be verbally aggressive. after the second altercation I reached my car a block or two up the street where then he and the young man followed me. Without any warning they swung a bat at my head and luckily I blocked it with my arm( I was very fortunate not to have a broken arm). After the altercation a few people came up to me and asked if I was ok and then the police came. He tried to lie to the police but there were witnesses there to tell them what really happened. 

After talking to the police, the mentioned that they knew the guy and had problems with him before. The police mentioned that he has also had problems with his neighbors and is an unstable guy who takes medication to be stable.

This guy and his business is not a place I hope people support. Violence is never the answer when it comes to a verbal argument over a bathroom. It could have been handled a different way but he choice to chase me down and attack me.

Alex was a blessing to my friend and I.  We had been driving and touring through Crete and were tired and had pulled up outside one of his other properties in the car park.  A neighbour contacted Alex and within seconds he was on hand to assist us.  We have travelled from the UK without pre-booking so we could stay where ever we thought was a nice area.

Alex offered us a two bedroom place to stay in his main building which had a patio area with gorgeous outlook and where it was possible to hang clothes to dry if needed.  Lovely shower room and had hairdryer, ac and wifi and a fridge in one of the bedroom's which was welcomed as after an evening out some cold water was required.

Alex was FULL of useful tips and his restaurant recommendation was very good. We stayed here for two nights.  We travelled to Ellafonissi Beach and many other places whilst staying here.  We went to several bars which were lively and a local greek nightclub that had just opened whilst we were staying there

The only point to bear in mind is that this property has alot of stairs without a banister or handrail or a lift so this would be the only area for improvement.  This place is not for those who have difficulty with climbing stairs.  The walls are thin but this did not affect us, we tried to reenter the property after evenings out as quietly as possible.  Parking was a great plus.

Location was fantastic as it was walking distance of the harbour, bars, main strip and restaurants.  There was a lovely local sandwich place across the bottom of the road who did some amazing quick food.

I would highly recommend this place and Alex as he was a true gentleman.

Fabulous Find Location Perfect!

Alex went out of his way to be helpful to us even though we weren’t his customers!

We stayed at a different apartment from Kasteli. While we were waiting for the owner of our apartment Alex started chatting to us, he was incredibly friendly and helpful. As we were waiting he gave us advice on restaurants and beaches and told us all about the Minoan ruins opposite the apartment, it’s obvious that he loves Hania. 

What a genuinely lovely guy, we will stay at Kasteli next time


Very helpful to non customers

This review is based on our stay in the unrenovated part of the hotel, which are old, outdated rooms without A/C. Recently painted, but moldy kitchen and bathroom. Nice balcony with seaview. Mediocre cleaning. Cramped pool area. Not child friendly common areas. 

Panormos is a very nice, calm, friendly small town. Several nice beaches, tavernas, shops and a really good restaurant.

Beautiful clean rooms, kind staff and a great location. I loved staying here and the hotel manager Alex fantastic at recommending amazing places to visit/eat at and things to see. 

I strongly recommend you stay here!!
