We had a wonderfull weekend in the Hotel Rita. The hotel is situated a little above the centre of the vilage but everything important can be easyly reached on food (5-10 min walk). The surrounding is very quiet and from the balcony you have a great view over the valley. The rooms a big, each with an own balcony and everything is very clean. The hotel owner is very friendly and we felt at home from the beginning. The breakfast is simple but great taste with fresh rolls and a selection of ham, chees sausage etc.. We were even allowed to take some rolles and sausage out for our picknick during the day. All in all it is a small hotel with a very warm atmosphere and a great deal for the money. We would come again.

Nice weekend in black Forrest 

The hotel is a huge house with 4 floors. It was a detail that gave us the room on the floor of the dining room floor. Rita was charming, she didn't speak much English but for us it was enough. She tried to explain herself and gave us tourist information and a tourist card to visit certain areas of the Black Forest (some spa, recreation centers). She doesn't live in the house and leaves everything unlocked. In the dining room floor there is a freezer full of drinks with prices between 2.50 and 3o. We were given a phenomenal one after the streets. We had clean rooms, very nice cabins and plenty of space. A great hotel with views of the village. But there was a lunch with a bathroom like every other in the Viviera. There was a tearoom next door, and there were four corners of the house.

 Charming hotel, well situated on the routes of the Black Jungle.

Hotel Rita is a traditional German small hotel. Very clean, with good size rooms on two floors. Decent flat screen TV for those who care. Breakfast buffet is very traditional and nicely done. 

The proprietor is very friendly. She emailed me the day before our arrival to let me know she had an appointment and would be out until 6 pm the next day. She left our room key in a lock box at the front door. 

The only drawbacks might be that she speaks only German. Also, the location is a bit outside central Schonach so a car is required. Finally, there isn't much to do in Schonach and restaurant choices are limited. The next town, Triberg, can be quite touristy.  So although Rita is a fine hotel, I probably won't be returning. 

Clean, comfortable, nice

The owner was very friendly and kind, she even made us choose the room... the hotel is family-run, the rooms have nothing to spare, even the balcony, and breakfast is delicious... you get the outside key and you come and go when you want; the parking is reserved and free.

That's a good choice.

A little dated but clean and very available staff. Advisable for those who want to spend a few days in the Black Forest. Breakfast like this, too bad the lady doesn't speak a word of English.

Simple, clean and welcoming

We stayed there for one night, a very nice room, a perfectly placed balcony, plenty of space, perfect cleanliness, a rather comfortable bed.

Nice hotel for a short stay

We stayed one night in this small German Guesthouse.  Our room was cozy and very clean.  They served a nice German breakfast in a sunny dining room in the morning.  It is a good place if you are looking for simple, clean and friendly accommodations in this part of the Black Forest.

Rita doesn't speak much English, but it doesn't matter. Her unbridled enthusiasm and love of life ensure you'll have a great time. 

We stayed with Rita when walking the Westweg. It is quite a long walk from the trail, down into the town where Rita is located. She'd planned ahead and provided us with a room on the ground floor - i.e. no stairs to climb with our tired feet. Unfortunately, the WiFi reception in that room wasn't great, so she immediately moved us to another room on the first floor. 

Each of the rooms has a balcony and a great view across the valley and town. 

We had absolutely no cause for complaint and really enjoyed our stay with Rita. Schonach is a lovely place and there is a great Italian restaurant in town.

I was originally sent by the Schonach tourist information office to Pension Rita for one night, but I found the pension itself so pleasant and the town so convenient for walking different stages of the nearby long-distance path that I ended up staying for several nights. It was very pleasant also to find that the longer one stayed, the cheaper the room became. The owner kindly put me in a double room but did not charge a supplement, as it was a quiet time.

The bathroom fittings are perhaps slightly dated, but everything was neat and clean. There was a pleasant balcony and - a nice touch - fitted cushions for the chairs, stored inside the room. Also welcome was a full set of shoe cleaning equipment. The wall safe provided some extra peace of mind.

Breakfast is served in a lovely sunny room and is very good, varied and hearty. The owner also offered to bring more breakfast material (ham, cheese, etc.) so that I could make sandwiches for the day's walk! (B&Bs tend rather to discourage walkers and cyclists from doing this.) In the kitchen is a refrigerator with fairly priced beer, wine and other drinks. The owner is not available after breakfast at the weekends, as she (understandably) wishes to spend time with her family. However, the room was serviced while I was having breakfast, and so there is no drop in standards.

There are some lovely details around the hotel - wooden sculptures, articles about local history and prominent local people, and a wonderful Foucault pendulum that is suspended indoors from the highest point in the house and that describes patterns in a sand pit.

Pension Rita participates in the Konus Card scheme: you pay the tourist tax (a fairly nominal amount) and the Konus Card gives you free travel throughout the region on the buses and most trains, and free or reduced-price entry to local attractions (including free admission to the impressive nearby Triberg waterfall). This is a fantastic programme!

For a comfortable stay at a reasonable price, Pension Rita is a very good option. Just a short walk away is the Landhotel Rebstock, which serves some of the best food I have tasted anywhere in the world - especially the game dishes.

Lovely stay

The hotel is located in the quiet town of Schonach, in the middle of the Black Forest, so I can recommend it to anyone who would use it as a base to visit this beautiful region. The rooms, and the hotel in general, are a bit dated, but everything is clean and well maintained.
