Hotel Friedrichstraße

I discovered this B&B Hotel while searching for accommodations near Kaiserslautern during the 2006 FIFA World Cup. It is located about an hour south of Frankfurt, and less than an hour from the beautiful Rhine River and Black Forest regions. The owner, Frank, was very friendly and accommodating. The rooms were tidy, and adequately sized by European standards (small, but not confining). The rooms resembled a hotel more than a homey B&B, however the dining area was spotless, sunny, and cheerfully decorated with colorful accents (plus plenty of soccer decorations at the time due to the World Cup!). The breakfast spread was excellent - a variety of fresh rolls and breads, jams, coffee, teas, juices, cereals, yogurt, meats and cheeses for open-faced sandwiches, and hard-boiled eggs which were personally cooked by Frank on request. There was also a fabulous Greek restaurant next door - Restaurant Paradies - that rivaled most Greek restaurants I have visited here in the States. Overall, the B&B hotel was Excellent and reasonably priced - about 100 Euro per night, although that was during the World Cup and it might normally be less than that. The only thing I would caution is that you must walk up several flights of stairs to get to the front desk and rooms, and I don't recall seeing an elevator (though one may in fact exist).
