Stepantsminda (Kasbegi)

Delicious breakfast, clean rooms, amazing hospitality. Treat were even received by a friend who did not stay at Red Stone Guest House, but with whom we were going to Altihut. I was able to leave some luggage and pick it up in two days. Wonderful place!

Amazing hospitality

Absolutely amazing place. Very warm atmosphere. Been there last week and can't complain. Owners there are familiar. We ask them for a breakfast without a meat and she said Its not a problem 😉Close to local amenities and goddies view. Recommended.

I stayed here for 2 nights and absolutely loved it. It is so cheap but offers great service. It is extremely homely and the rooms are warm and clean. 

The location is great, about 5 mins to the centre of the town. The breakfast is probably the biggest plus. It is so tasty and fresh. Especially the plum jam....yum.

Would recommend this place to anyone who isn’t looking for the hotel luxuries. 

Absolutely Fantastic

Location was perfect! Really great view of town against the Kazbegi mountains. We spent quite some time in the balcony with coffee and wine. Would have been better though if they had a nice small table in there. It's also the best jump-off to the Gergeti Church trail. Cuts your walking time by around 20mins compared to if you're coming from the main town. 

The room was spacious and clean. There wasn't anything special in the rooms, except that the sheets were very warm and comfy. Especially useful for the cold nights. 

Best part was the breakfast. I've read a lot of good reviews about it, but it still exceeded our expectations. Eggs, fluffy pancakes, khachapuri (without the egg on top), homemade cheese, fresh salad, and khinkali!! Too much yummy food for breakfast!

Only sad thing was the broken shower door in the shared toilet which causes "flooding" in the bathroom. Also, air smells like cow poop, but you'll get used to it. It gets mingled with the refreshing smell of fresh mountain air anyway :)

exceptional breakfast and view!

Booked a room for 5 pax (2 nights) even though it was only 2 of us as it is the only room with ensuite bathroom.

Pros:
- Excellent location to be based in to hike up the church
- Clean room and friendly owner
- Granny who prepared the breakfast was really jolly
- Breakfast was good and adequate. A little different on both days (fried eggs, pancake, khachapuri, bread, cheese, yoghurt, homemade jam etc)

Cons:
- Room was too basic and seemed to lack a touch of thoughtfulness. Eg there wasn't any bedside lamp. Only a main light with the switch next to the door. There is a veranda with fantastic view of the mountain and the town centre but there were only 3 uncomfortable dining chairs. Not enough for more guests. No table or anything you could relax in and take in the view. Such a pity. Would be nice to be able to have breakfast there too.
- Shower stall only had 1 door. We had to shower very carefully to prevent flooding the bathroom. Owner was aware of the problem as there was an extra piece of towel on the floor besides the bathroom mat
- No space for toiletry bag if yours is not the hanging kind.
- Limited parking space. There were 3 guest rooms but only enough space for 2 cars. We had to check with our neighbour what time they will leave the next day so we could move our cars in the right position to avoid being trapped.

10-min walk to town for food.
Overall, the price is very reasonable. If your main objective is a place that's convenient for the hike to the church, then go for it.

Good location for hike

We loved our two night stay at this guest house which is located across the river from Kazbegi.  The room was spacious with a great view and the owner and their daughter showed wonderful hospitality.  We ate both dinners there - the Georgian food was homemade,  plentiful and delicious as were the breakfasts.  All meals were prepared by the owners and served at the kitchen table.

Great Guest House and Great Food

+ Location - literally half way between Stepancminda/Kazbegi town and the most famous attraction in that region: Cminda Sameba, just 1h - 1:15h walk (on very steep track though) 
+ Gorgeous view from the terrace! Breathtaking + The owner is amazing! She speaks little of few languages, so no problem with communication in English 
+ The best breakfast ever! We have stayed in 10 different hotels around Georgia and the breakfast in Red Stone House was the best! Amazing khachapuri, pancakes, home made jam, butter, cheese etc. 
+ Basic, but clean rooms with big and new, modern bathroom (we booked standard triple room with own bathroom) 
+ Private parking (depends on availability) - for 1 car only, safe, secured, locked yard 
+ Quiet area 
+ Great value for money

Great location for walk to Gergeti Trinity Church

We were still looking for accommodation late at night, and after a few phone calls from various helpful people, we were taken to the Red Stone Guest House and received warmly. The large room overlooked the valley and was clean and conveniently furnished. Especially the next morning's breakfast in the kitchen was unforgettable, the hostess was extremely warm and the food (house-made kinkali and alp butter and pancakes and much more) a dream. From there it is a wonderful way up to the Gergeti Trinity Church. Unforgettable, thank you!

A wonderful place.

This guest house will make you feel at home. A charming place with an impressive view of the highest mountains in Europe. What struck me positively was the extreme cleanliness, both of the bathroom and the rooms. A lavish breakfast with a wide tasting of local products made at home by the owners of the guet house. The only weak point is probably the location of the structure, right in the upper part of the village. If you have heavy suitcases or have trouble walking not thinking twice, take a taxi. Extreme cleaning

On the one hand, where the famous Rooms Hotel is located, if the windows are on the right side, there are beautiful views of Stepanzmind, Hergeti and Kazbek. On the other hand, there are also many hotels. From the Red Stone Kazbek hotel was not visible, but there was a beautiful view of Stepanzmind and the mountains on the other side, and Kazbek we viewed the live one. The hotel is located on the heights, 20 minutes walk away from the center of the hotel, now a new concrete road is being laid by it. The house is conveniently located on the rooftop (or further on the Kazbek), there is a parking lot. We are in Hergeti on the third floor, but on the second floor there is a very spacious and spacious room, and it is also possible to observe the spacious rooms on the first floor of the hotel.
