Tainos Cottages

We loved it here. I booked this hotel as I am a fan of the BBC series Death in Paradise and wanted to visit Deshaies where it’s filmed. Although slightly out of town, Tainos Cottages looked like an interesting place to stay and I’m so glad I chose it. Initially we struggled to find Tainos and no one we asked seemed to be able to help (although could be our French accents). So we parked up and were trying to work out what to say in French when we called to ask directions, when my phone rang & it was the hotel owner calling us. He spoke perfect English. Thank God!! He told us he was having some issues with road access so he directed us to the Grande Anse car park where he came to find us and helped us from there as access to his property required a short walk across unpaved ground and across a small stream. It was fun and so worth it. We were shown to our room which was a beautifully rustic cottage with a huge veranda with table, chairs, rocking chair, sofa and hammock and a Jacuzzi on a covered platform outside. It was truly lovely. We were only there two nights and arrived after lunch on day one so did nothing much except have a couple of beers by the pool and a shower before going down to town for sunset cocktails and dinner. The next day we spent an idyllic morning by the pool and then wandered down the beach for lunch at a beach bar, followed by a snooze in the hammock before another night down in town. Perfect! The hotel is only about 2k outside of town so an easy walk in daylight but you need a torch for the walk back. Oh and I almost forgot…..Breakfast was great. Freshly squeezed juice, fresh fruit, a wonderful selection of breads and the best scrambled eggs I’ve ever had. All washed down with a perfect pot of tea. They know us Brits love our tea and had a perfect brew. Thank you.
