Beautiful historic property expertly and cheerfully managed by a generous and attentive hostess. The house is in the Camino de Santiago de Compostela, with historic details balanced by all modern comforts --a gem!

L’Oustal is easy to find via Satnav and parking is very good. You have to access the hotel and parking via closed electric gates, so just park up across the road and use the intercom.

Check in was very welcoming and efficient. The house is a lovely old mansion with the aforementioned gated entry for the car and quirky sculptures in the gardens. The owner is a charming lady and our room (Liane de Pougy) is large, comfortable, decorated in appropriate period style and has a lovely balcony overlooking the front lawn. The en-suite also feels delightfully period with huge double sinks, big fat radiators and a shower cabinet with an old fashioned latch.

Downstairs there’s a little residents’ lounge with facilities for making tea, coffee, cold drinks etc. and there are even wee trays so that you can carry your beverages out to the garden or up to your room.

Breakfast is served in a lovely dining room with most guests seated at the main table. It was typical continental fare with orange juice, fresh fruit salad, yogurts and a nice selection of cheeses, cold meats, jams, bread and cake.

This is one of those places that you feel fortunate to discover. It has been a lovely place to stay for a couple of days and we look forward to a return visit.

A wonderful place to stay.

Very friendly welcome.  They only have 4 bedrooms so it is never very busy.  The room we had was spacious and very clean.  Private parking in a gated area. About 10 minutes walk from the centre so very convenient.  Average breakfast. There is a separate lounge with tea and coffee making facilities.

Good location with friendly welcome

This was a wonderful stay.  We only wish it could have been longer. We unexpectedly had to arrive much later than intended, but the hostess accommodated us very well for both the late arrival and a late breakfast. This site is fascinating, and it was very comfortable.

This was a wonderful classical house in a quiet part of Bourges  excellent secure parking in the grounds, antique furnishings throughout, and a perfect hostess, who supplied home produce to much of the excellent inclusive breakfast, we loved  l' Oustal.

This is a lovely place to stay very comfortable the decor is distinctive and the garden ornaments are such good fun and unique.The hostess was very helpful helping us with a reservation for evening meal, the breakfast was very pleasant.  Yes we would stay again

Unique place to stay

Lovely big family room in beautiful house. Quirky garden with secure parking. The host was wonderful and we were welcome to drinks and snacks on the terrace whenever we wanted. Lovely breakfast. We had a nice meal in Bourges and enjoyed the trail in the dark seeing the historic buildings lit up. My children aged 14 and 11 just loved it.

Perfect overnight stay when travelling across France

Completely charming venue.  Rooms with care, cleanliness and great style.  Delicious breakfast with some home made treats esp the jams.  Very friendly owner.   Wish we had booked longer on our way to Beziers.
