We stayed the first night at stunning view 1 but moved to stunning view 2 after we realized it was cheaper and nicer. It has a great big balcony, comfy bed, clean bathroom, spacious shelves, a/c etc. Its a bit closer to town as well. Stunning view 1 has a very small balcony and just a fan which is fine but for a better price down the street at stunning view 2 you can get a bit more. Most notably however is that the staff was very friendly and flexible. When we left to stay in a Hmong homestay they let us store our bags. Also they let us push back our reservation a night when we decided to stay in the homestay another night. They did so without argument at all. They were so understanding. Very friendly. A solid place to stay if on a budget but still looking for a nice Sapa view. The receptionist lady can help you with booking treks, but she's not so pushy and in your face about it like some other hotels which is so refreshing. 

Flexible/friendly staff, awesome view. 

This place is great. The view looks over mount fansipan - the tallest peak in indo china. There was quiet a lot of building going on around the hotel but they provided us with ear plugs. The breakfast was also really nice and the staff very helpful. It is close to good restaurants and the road and trails leading to the minority villages of sapa

Lovely view and great staff

As the trains do arrive early you find yourself in Sapa at 7am but no chance of early check in or even breakfast (without paying extra). Fortunately I met up with a couple in the same predicament and we decided to wander out in which turned out to be fun city tour with local Hmong ladies (who conveniently seem to know and are waiting outside hotels to pounce)
 I stayed two nights in a Junior suite, with the typical Vietnam hard bed and untypical diabolical interiors that were mitigated by the view which came and went with the Sapa mist. Unfortunately the construction drilling didn't come and go, there were jack hammers and heavy drilling from 6am to 8-9 pm
It took me quite a while to work out the hot water system as on was off and off was on but I got a 3 minute hot shower in the end, the second day.
Breakfast was included but a bit worrisome if you peek around the corner of the hotel and saw the dirty open shed tacked to the side of the building that was the kitchen and considering there were were rotting dead animal corpses in an abandoned hut just across the dusty narrow road, it made me nervous but the pancakes were OK and  I didn't get sick but I may have coughed up some dirt for the next few days.
Staff were friendly and the tours they booked for me all enjoyable and well priced.
It is not the worst budget hotel I have stayed in in Vietnam but it gets close when you think about eating out of that kitchen.

Clapped out hotel, stunning view

Beware this hotel run two different hotels 300m apart Stunning View 1 and 2. 

We originally booked Stunning View 1. On arrival we were told our reservation was in Stunning View 2, and we would have to walk up to there with our heavy back packs. When we got there everything looked good, nice reception area friendly staff. We were then shown to our room. It was disgusting. It was right up on the top floor, almost hidden away in the corner. We got the impression it was almost an overflow room, only used when both hotels are full. Straight away we were hit with a dirty, stale smell. There was mould on the walls and when we tried to the bed not only was the mattress awful, the sheets were dirty.

I double checked my reservation and knew this wasn't what I booked so I went down to reception. I explained my unhappiness with the room. I showed my reservation which clearly stated I should be in the other hotel. The girl was very nice but she told me there was nothing she could do. Stunning View 1 was full and so was this hotel, so they couldn't even change our room. We decided at this stage the room was so bad it would ruin our trip, so we booked a new hotel and were leaving. 

When the staff seen our bags, suddenly they changed their minds. Now we could change rooms if we wanted, they even had a room in Stunning View 1 if we wanted. It was too late at this stage and we left. In fairness they cancelled our stay free of charge.

So just beware, make sure you get what you booked for, and if you're told they can't give you a new room, they probably can. Throughout the whole mess, the girl at reception was really nice, very apologetic and did try to help.

Had to walk out

I checked in on Saturday, the price was 6 usd probably because it was a weekend. The dorm room itself located in the underground level. It was very cold, toilet flash was broken and smell wasn't nice either. 
All in all, it is very basic and for not picky backpacker would be ok.
