We were very disappointed, we paid for a room overlooking the sea with breakfast included, and we got a room walled in bricks and with no view at all and no breakfast. In return, the hotel owner gave us a small discount, but it was worth zero.

Very disappointing and false information about the hotel.

The only plus is that hot water is always there, but you have to make sure that you don't turn off the electricity. Clean only when you're sober, and I can't always do that. When they clean, they pull the refrigerator out of the hot sprinkler and turn the boiler out.

It's expensive and very noisy.

You can wash your clothes if u need. There are all needed things. Free breakfast. Also u can rent a motorbike here. 4$ per day

Clean and comfortable rooms

I think one of our favorite stays in Cat Ba. We first booked room for 2 nights but extended our stay for 2 nights more.

9th floor room with a really nice view, big room and big toilet.

For this kind of price with small but filling breakfast i cluded, don’t expect a 5 star hotel, there were some spots in our room that you will notice but overall we were really happy!

Mr. Win will organize almost everything for you if needed.

We took a 2 day 1 night cruise from him and it was amazing. He booked our ride back to hanoi, we rented scooter from him for several days, their restaurant was good etc.

Nice view, good price

It'd stupid to expect a miracle booking a $10-a-night sea view 'deluxe' double even in low season, and though the view was great, anyway it's been barely cozy room desperately needing face-lift (even the neighboring one was far better and newer, so not all the same). The devil is in the details - despite passable first impression, old linens, thin towels, ramshackle wardrobe, untidy attempt to refresh wall painting, so many useless switches with only one for all the bulbs sticking from the ceiling, all that worn out things simply did not allow to feel comfortable there. Sure pics when you make your booking don't show that :) On the other hand, we got large room, air con, fan, fridge, location and a basic breakfast, so the property may be a real bargain depending on what you pay and what room you get )

Was real bargain, but uncomfortable

Our family has 10 people with 2 rooms on 6 floor. Beautiful views on the beach. The staff was very friendly to tell us about information where to go for good swimming, good food, fish maket to buying fresh squid, crab, fish then comback to the hotel, they will cooking that with good price ( 100,000VND for a kg. Including every thing ) hight recommender

Excellent hotel, nice room and best prices !

We stay here for one night on the back of eating at the restaurant, renting a bike, booking one day boat tour and bus to Ha Giang. Mr Win runs this place whit the upmost professionalism whit his son, nephew and family. They are so accommodating and friendly and made us feel completely at home after a  chaotic start our trip in Hanoi. The information they gave us was invaluable and prices were some of the best we’ve seen. The room was so clean with it’s own fridge and balcony with beautiful view of the bay. 
A must stay if visiting Cat Ba Island.

Professional and friendly service

Don't book a tour there they are lying to you and we almost died because it was so dangerous...
We booked a private tour for 4hours in Lana Bay and he show us the picture of a nice boat to do it. But when we arrived to the harbour the day after it was an very small, awful, noisy and bad condition boat that you use to do a transfer to a big boat in the harbour. 
We had to go to high ocean by a cap first to join Lana Bay but the ocean was really moving a lot and we almost capsized because the boat was to small and not strong enough for those conditions... The driver was very scared too... 
And at the end we didn't do the tour that we booked because the boat was too slow to go so far (and so noisy it was horrible during 4 hours)...
So we paid a lot for almost dying and don't do what we would like to see...
Terrible experience... We were really scared and shocked..

THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT YOUR SECURITY AND WHAT WAS THE DEAL AND THEY ARE REALLY REALLY NOT HONEST SO DON'T BOOK THERE!!!!!

Don't book a tour there! DANGEROUS AND TERRIBLE....

I booked 2 nights at Thai Bao hotel. From the hotel manager to the staff were very friendly. The room was clean and tidy. My room view was straight to the bay which was a stunning experience. I booked the visiting the Lan Ha Bay tour with this hotel. Mr. Win (in Vietnamese language, his name is Mr. Thang), was absolutely helpful. He provided very detailed information about the tour with a very caring and hospitable attitude. Although the guests booked his tour or not, it did not matter. He smiled all the time with a very nice face. In general, the hotel has good location, good view, good food and very good services. Other others may look newer or have better facilities, for me, I choose hotel with good service and friendly staff where I can feel comfortable and safe during my stay.

Service with passion

The view from the window was wonderful. There's a tourist agency at the hotel, very convenient if you don't book a tour in advance. The only thing I didn't really like was the bathroom, but for that price it's a sin to complain.
