We had an incredibly relaxing time at Malta Homestay. Nicolas, the owner, was a friendly and welcoming host who went above and beyond to make sure our stay was comfortable. This place is just as cool as it gets. Our room was clean, cozy, and the craftsmanship was beautiful. We felt like we were in a tree house, overlooking the pool, sitting in the hammock, drinking our morning coffee and watching the parrots fly through the trees. The parrilla is the most fun you can have cooking, only matched by sitting on the beautiful deck, enjoying your dinner and wine under the stars. Breakfast provided by Nicolas and his wife on the deck was incredibly thoughtful and a great way to start another relaxing beach day. We absolutely loved our stay here. Thank you, Nicolas!

Amazing!!!

Such a charming and cosy place to stay. Not sophisticated but good quality all over the place. A light and tasty Brazilian touch. Nicolás is a discrete and fantastic host. Unbelievable breakfast! Great location. Congrats! Will definitely go back. 

A Must 

Staying at Malta Homestay was the highlight of our three weeks in Uruguay.  Nicolas, Ana and Javier made sure of that!  We were warmly welcomed and readily assisted whenever there was a need during our stay.  Our room, in keeping with the entire property, was charming and impeccable. We stayed in room 4 and loved the privacy of our patio with a hammock and table with chairs. Breakfast included fresh breads, meats, cheese, eggs and a beautiful fruit plate.  Breakfast is served on your patio/balcony or in the reception area.  We used the pool every afternoon after returning from the beach.  Each evening we walked (with flashlights) to one of two amazing restaurants very nearby (Namm and Marismo)...magical!  The town of Jose Ignacio is a short drive or about a 30-minute walk along the beach. We spent part of a day there but did not return because we were too happy being at Malta Homestay.

We’ve already decided to try to return next year with friends.  So, we took an opportunity to look at two other rooms.  These rooms were just as nice as ours so the only decision is whether to be on the ground level or upstairs with a balcony.  The photos are accurate but, of course, they don’t convey the ambience of this special place.  Four nights was not enough so we will plan on at least a week next time.

Perfection!

From start to finish we were charmed by Malta Homestay. The host Nicolas and his helper (and best buddy) Javier (aka the gentle pirate) treated us to the best. The rooms were comfortable and large, the breakfast phenominal and interminable (eggs, home made breads, jam, ham & cheese, fruit platter, granola & yogurt etc).

The setting is dreamy, with the self-built stylish property nestled among trees and a view out to Laguna Garzon.  Peaceful is a great way to describe this place, with each room carefully separated with its own balcony and hammoc, for ultimate privacy.  The added bonus was the use of the parilla (bbq) and bbq kitchen which produced some delicious meals in the evening when we didn't want to dine out.

We will definitely be back! Thank you Nikos for sharing your home with us - it made for a magical end to our holiday!
