Bertram Inn

The rating of excellent is based on the amazing staff. From Astrid who answered all my questions on the phone, Dia, the night innkeeper who gave me the key and welcomed me past the check in time. Tim, who oversaw breakfast and made sure that the serving plates were full. Amazing Claudine - went above and beyond - going across the street to provide my family with wine glasses for our private dinner in the Bertamn Inn's garden room, giving my dog an extra welcome box with more dog biscuits, provided a water bowl for my dog and providing extra towels and checking to make sure everything was okay! Breakfast is served in the lounge on the first floor and if you have a pet you can sit with your pet in their enclosed garden room which is off of the lounge. Food is a large offering including a hot dish - french toast or eggs - beautiful fruit salad, choice of cereals, breads, yummy baked goods, variety of coffees and teas and juices and milk. In fact the dried food and baked goods along with water (hot and cold) and coffee and tea are available around the clock! Rooms: Historic inn with historic furniture and design. Shower was strong and plenty of hot water. Older style bathroom but extremely functional. Parking -No issues with parking - they have their own lot behind their house off of St. Paul's street. You must tell them in advance that you have a car so they can advise you where to park and give you a parking ID. The other options are at their sister property across the street. I was also told that if worse came to worse, we could park on the street overnight and the Bertram Inn would pay for the ticket. Parking is an additional $20 per night. Only challenge was that our room on the first floor was not as warm as we would have liked. I did not want to bother the innkeeper in the middle of the night. We stayed for two nights and it was fine, I just did not know how to access the control for the heat in our room. Pet Friendly - call in advance to tell them you have a pet. They prefer that you do not leave your dog alone in the room, but if you do, to please have them crated. A welcome doggy box is given to each pet guest that included dog biscuits, a roll of poop bags and a guide to local dog friendly parks, vets and pet stores!
