My friend and I go to the Hay book festival every year, and this time my sister and brother-in-law joined us.  We have stayed at Highfields regularly and I would not dream of going anywhere else for the festival.
Libby is a most welcoming host - tea and homemade welsh cakes when we arrived is just the start.  The rooms are comfortable, well appointed and scrupulously clean.  
A welcome new touch is a small fridge on the landing where you can store wine, fudge or whatever you fancy.  There is even a tray with wine glasses for your use.  There is a table and chairs in the garden perfect for watching the sun set with a glass of wine.
The garden round the farmhouse is lovely - my sister had a long conversation with Libby regarding her poppies - I'm better at weeds. 
Libby is a lovely cook and her breakfasts are legendary.  As much as possible is locally sourced and very fresh.  The bacon is historic but there is plenty of choice for all tastes.
I know this sounds as if I am employed by the Jones' to give a great review, but this is genuinely the most comfortable B and B I have ever stayed at.  



Comfortable, welcoming and brilliant breakfasts

This B&B is situated in a quiet spot, just a few miles out of Hay-on-Wye. Our hosts were friendly and hospitable, the rooms were clean, comfortable and a good size and the breakfasts excellent, with a good range of options.
There is a pub just a mile down the road that offers good food at a reasonable price.
A great place to stay.

Peaceful and comfortable

Highfield was undoubtedly the best B&B we have experienced. Perfect hosts, excellent room, delightful location, first class breakfast. Indeed the standard was higher than many mid-range hotels where we have stayed. We have no hesitation in recommending this establishment.

Outstanding B&B

We consider ourselves really lucky that the B&B was available when we booked it last minute for two nights of the bank holiday weekend.

Libby was so helpful and nothing was too much trouble and she totally doted on our 1 year old daughter. We will definitely be going back to stay there.

Though the location means generally have to drive, this was made up for by the views and the sheep in the fields in front of you.

Perfect bank holiday weekend at Highfield B&B

beautiful location with stunning views from every window.  A very warm welcome from the owner, within minutes of arriving we had donned our slippers and were sat in the lounge enjoying fresh scones with jam and cream and a pot of tea.  Our room was spacious and spotlessly clean as was the en suite.  Nothing was too much trouble for our hostess who even made a dinner reservation for us.  The breakfast was exceptional with good quality food and again nothing was too much trouble.  Our hostess recommended The Pandy Inn for our evening meal.  Again the welcome from both staff and locals was amazing as was the food.  A better wine list than some high end restaurants that we have been to.  The whole experience was a delight and I would recommend Highfield Farm to anyone wanting just that little bit extra, a home from home.

Idyll in Dorstone

Booked this Bed and Breakfast and was so impressed I had to write a review. When I went to write it I couldn't help smiling at all the other great reviews because it really is superb!
So let's go through what makes it good...

Room.
Comfy bed, clean room and stunning view over the countryside. If you ever have a hangover (like I did from a wedding) then this is the place to wake up.

Breakfast.
Faultless, I've had worse at the Dorchester in London. Quality food, delivered hot and no problem asking for more.

Host
The lady that met us was great. Not too full on and only happy in making your stay a pleasure. Many top hotels would do well to shadow her for a few days. She was friendly, polite and helpful. 

Conclusion.
I've written a few reviews where hotels etc didn't come up to the mark but this certainly wasn't one of them. A credit to the industry and well done. Just look at the reviews and you'll soon learn this place is a gem. Keep up the great work guys...I couldn't recommend you high enough.



Made me smile

On the farm in beautiful countryside near Hay on Wye, two couples thoroughly enjoyed their stay in spacious rooms with good Wi-fi, huge beds and well equipped bathrooms. 
Libby, the owner, had set the scene in the rooms by including some of her lovely Welsh cakes with the tea and coffee making facilities, which were replenished each day.
The breakfasts were a real treat with a daily choice of traditional, scrambled eggs and smoked salmon, drop scones with poached egg and yogurt etc, preceded by cereals and fresh fruit including raspberries and strawberries grown on the farm.
Rody, the husband and farmer, looked after his beautiful rare breed sheep which he showed and had won numerous prizes.
They constantly kept us amused and were ‘better than television’.
The B & B is ideally situated near to Hay on Wye, the famous ‘book town’, the historical Pandy Inn which serves fantastic evening meals, and lovely walks in the Black Hills (Arthur’s Stones are just up the road).

Very friendly and welcoming hostess and an excellent breakfast was provided. The room was very comfortable and a good size.

Excellent B&B with age garden

Highfield B&B is just 10 minutes from Hay-on-Wye on B4348. Parking area is 
available inside the property. We received a warm welcome by Rody and Libby. 
They showed us our room and its facilities. Good WIFI service in the room, 
big bathroom with a huge shower with good hair and shower gel. The House is
clean and very well kept with a nice garden. It is in the country and you can 
enjoy the fields and sheeps view. Fantastic breakfast cooked and served by Libby.

Simply perfect!

We have just come home from a wonderful weekend  stay at Highfield. We received a warm and friendly welcome from Libby with a very much needed offer of a cuppa on arrival! This was provided with delicious buttery shortbreads. Our rooms very lovely with everything you could want with extras as well. Beds were really comfortable and we slept very well. The breakfasts were delicious as well, fresh fruit or cereal to start then a delicious full English. After a long day out on the Saturday we arrived back in our rooms to find some lovely welsh cakes Libby put there to have with our hot drinks. We were so well looked after. There is a lovely homely feel to the house which is beautifully situated in glorious countryside. Thank you so much for a great stay!
