Have eaten here several times 
Since lockdown restrictions have lifted I had the tandoori chicken pizza one night could have done with more chicken on it other than that it was really good pizza was filling and a good size cooked from fresh previous night I had scampi and a salad as I substituted the chips and then dessert was a lovely cookie dough with melted marshmallows really yummy recommend trying the pink gin partner had the hot mama burger that was really nice and had a nice kick to it 
Previous he had the pork and chorizo burger which was nice as well fully recommend only downside is no garden but the staff very friendly

Enjoyable

Went into the white horse after work, quite new to shipston. It was quiet but out of all the places in shipston they gave the warmest welcome. Both owners kept us chatting was just like a real local pub, a lot of the other pubs seem to focus on procedure and not really the personal touch of an actual conversation. We loved it and we are returning 4 a Sunday carvery this Sunday xxx thank you so much you made our evening

Pleasant surprise

We needed to stay in Shipston-on-Stour as it was close to a wedding venue, we chose this place as a few other wedding guests were also staying.

NOT so great
On return at night our keys didn’t work and we couldn’t get in, even our friends who were in could not use their key to open the door so we were outside for what seemed like ages while we contacted landlords, in the end we had to use another door but it was v annoying.

There was a musty damp smell in the bathroom

Rock hard bed did not give a good night sleep

Shipston-on-Stour does not have a vast Taxi service which resulted in us phoning a few who were not interested in picking us up after the wedding, However Roy from Miles Private Hire was amazing and we would recommend, he did a fantastic job making return trips to ensure everyone got a lift home.

A mixed review but mostly good, we paid  £90 per room

Stay over as close to wedding venue 

The landlord and landlady are friendly and approachable and have a wealth of local knowledge.  Our room (1) was spacious with plenty of outlets and cupboard space.  The shower was full pressure and good.  The bed was large although for us slightly too firm – but that’s a personal choice.  The wi-fi was OK when it worked but it was very erratic.  Breakfast was excellent.  

We had a strange request because we were visiting our family in the area and being joined by other members of the family from various regions around the UK.  Because we wanted to have a pre-christmas reunion we sked if they would give us a traditional Christmas meal on the Saturday evening of our stay.  They really pushed the boat out for us with a turkey roast, decorations, fairy lights and small Christmas tree.  They even put Christmas carols as background music for us.  Everybody, including the regulars, enjoyed it and joined in the atmosphere.  Thank you Dave and Carol.  


A good place to visit the area from

Not only was the breakfast beautifully cooked, with plenty of choice, but the coffee was spot on. The room was spacious and clean. Our hosts were so friendly with pleanty of ideas for our stay. The town is within easy distance of so many places.

Friendly place to stay

The hotel has so much character. The room was really well designed and the breakfast was delicious. The owners were also very polite and kind. I very well recommend it for your Cotswolds base. Most of the picturesque villages are not far away.

Very friendly place

Eight members of our family spent a night here, booking 4 of the 5 rooms, following a tour of the nearby gin distillery - ideally located for this! All staff we encountered were very friendly and the bar had a lovely ambiance (and a dartboard which is nice to see these days!!!) The rooms are spacious and there are lots of lovely features in the building, due to its age. The floors are uneven but that adds to the character of the place and the rooms were very clean with lovely bedding. The bottles of water beside the beds is also a lovely touch and there were plenty of single use toiletries provided in the en-suites, again a lovely touch. Breakfast was cooked fresh, rather than a help yourself buffet and the quantity and quality was of a good standard and sets you up for the day, with cereals and juices to help yourself to whilst waiting for the cooked breakfast. Two of our party were on a return visit and we would definitely use this establishment again if we return to the area. (The hotel also have a particular taxi driver they use, with a seven seater vehicle and he was brilliant!).

Family Outing

Dave and Carol very welcoming and very eager to please. Nice large and very clean room and lovely breakfast and evening meal. Good bar with wide selection of drinks and friendly locals in bar. Location central for olde world Cotswolds.

Very good hosts.

We popped in on our way home as we could smell the food from an open window whilst passing the building. Upon entering, we were welcomed with a friendly smile who served us drinks straight away. Beef and gammon carvery was on the menu. I had the gammon and my husband had the beef, both meats melted in your mouth and the veggies accompanying it were to die for. 
The atmosphere was relaxed and we enjoyed everything about our experience. 
We will certainly be returning.

Lovely sunday lunch 

Sea bass with sautéed Jersey Royals in a shallot and garlic cream sauce followed by the best Eton Mess. Everything was cooked to perfection and presented beautifully. 
A delicious meal, reasonably priced, great service... thank you!
