We were delighted with Pearl & Mark such lovely people who work hard at trying to please every guest.The breakfasts were very tasty. The rooms cosy.Beds cosy. St Georges House is in a great position  near Shanklin town and beach etc.So pleased we booked it.

Our first visit back in 6 years for a whole heap of reasons! Owners Mark and Pearly have put their stamp on the hotel, keeping the character it has had for the many years that we've stayed there, but updating and improving quite a few things too.

We had our 'usual' room at the front of the hotel, very cosy with a very comfy bed. Tea & coffee facilities, a large TV, good wi-fi, everything you'd need!

Breakfasts are great, and I can particularly recommend the smoked salmon and scrambled egg, served on a bagel with avocado. My wife tucked into the smoked haddock and poached egg most days.

Mark and Pearly are great hosts. Attentive and helpful but without fussing over you.

The hotel is in a quiet road in Shanklin, and the town is ideally situated on the Island's south-east coast, with good roads to all parts of the Island.

Thoroughly recommended, we'll be going back next year - same room!

A very comfortable and well-run place to stay.

We stayed for six nights as a base for walking the IOW Coastal Path. The location was excellent and our room very clean and comfortable. High praise to Mark and Pearly who were both exceptional hosts from the moment we arrived. We were warmly welcomed and enjoyed Pearly's delicious homemade cakes and Mark's wonderful breakfasts. They really could not have done any more for us from assisting with booking the ferry to recommending local restaurants and filling our water bottles every day. Thank you!

Excellent hosts!

Exactly what you’d expect from a boutique, independently run hotel. Lovely size rooms with very clean ensuite. Mark and Pearly are very accommodating, friendly and can’t do enough to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. When I arrived I was warmly greeted and offered a cup of tea and homemade slice of cake. The room was very clean and it was cleaned daily which was unexpected but very much appreciated. I was only staying whilst having some work done on my apartment locally, but it was definitely worth it and would highly recommend to anyone looking for somewhere rated to stay for an island holiday. Also, breakfast was amazing! You have to try Mark’s homemade omelette- delicious! Thank you so much Mark and Pearly! Thanks, Matthew

Amazing 🤩

We have just got back from a 4 day stay at Pearly and Mark's bed and breakfast in Shanklin, had a really lovely time, nothing was too much trouble and it was spotlessly clean, pretty much whatever you want for breakfast they will try to accommodate, beds were so comfortable, we would definitely go back. St George’s Hotel is a great hotel run by an excellent couple Pearly and Mark who go out of their way to make you comfortable ! Immaculately clean and homely with a great choice of breakfast. The room we stayed in was lovely with everything you need. Ideally placed for the town and beach. The station is only a 10 minute walk away. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be back one day

Lovely hotel

Well, what can I say. We came across this guest house by sheer luck, and how lucky we were. I stayed there with my husband as part of a last minute decision to spend a few days on the Isle of Wight.

The owners, Mark & Pearly, are wonderful hosts. Nothing is too much for them. On arrival, Pearly offered us tea and cake. I had carrot cake, homemade by Pearly, and it was absolutely delicious. Tea was served in china teapots, with cups and saucers; something your don't see very often these days.

We stayed in room 1, on the ground floor, with a lovely view of the garden. The room was spotless and was fully equipped. It had a double wardrobe with plenty of hangers, dressing table, double bed and en-suite shower room. There was a hairdryer, tea/coffee making facilities, plenty of electrical sockets (in the right places) and even shower gel/ shampoo/ body lotion in the bathroom. their attention to detail is fantastic as there was even a little pot in the bathroom with Q-Tips, make-up removal pads & cotton wool balls for us. Oh, and I just have to mention that the bed was SO comfortable. I don't think I've ever stayed in a hotel with a mattress as comfortable as this one.

There is free parking on the guest house forecourt, and Mark is on hand to help with the luggage if you need him.

The options for breakfast are vast. Everything from fruit juice to Pearly's special porridge, continental options to full English. I would definitely recommend the scrambled eggs with smoked salmon on a toasted bagel. Simply divine!

Perfectly located just a short walk from the centre of Old Shanklin, where you will find a lovely range of restaurants and tea houses. You can also walk down the beach front (Esplanade), or take the lift that is only 5 minutes walk away.

Mark &  Pearly are a font of local knowledge, so don't be afraid to ask for ideas on where to visit and where to eat. One thing though, make sure you book at the restaurants before you get there as they get very full, very quickly.

We will definitely be returning to the Isle of Wight and will not be looking to stay anywhere else.

September 2022

We stayed there as a family group a few years ago and came back as we had a great experience. The B&B is close enough to the beach yet is in a nice quite road . Breakfast was wonderful and the owners are very welcoming  and  can make some recommendations of what to do and where to eat  to make your stay . Parking is available at the premises which is great.

We were recommended to do the coastal drive from Shanklin  to The Needles  which was beautiful and scenic.

All in all a great place to stay in Shanklin .

Lovely B&B

What a diamond of a place! What makes it so special are the owners Mark and Pearly. Nothing is too much trouble. Great clean rooms, some smaller, some larger. We stayed in room 5. Which was lovely, spacious and airy. Only thing missing was an iron and ironing board, but we brought our travel iron so was not a problem for us. 
The bathroom is a little dated, but didn’t not have any impact on our stay.
Breakfast was amazing. A great selection ordered the night before from a full English, salmon and cream cheese bagels, haddock to name a few. I had a different breakfast every day! A welcome pot of tea when we arrived and freshly baked cakes. We were offered these many times during our 5 day stay. We have already booked for next year! Thank you!

A wonderful stay!

After enjoying two visits last year we decided to visit the island and St George’s house again. Mark and Pearly are perfect hosts and it was a pleasure to sit and chat with them over a drink one evening. The hotel was spotlessly clean and the food along with our stay was outstanding. We look forward to visiting again in the near future.
