A fantastic experience for families. The yurts are cosy and comfy, dry and weatherproof. The views are absolutely spectacular. The owners Nick and Tam are friendly, helpful and very kind. I was surprised how much cooking equipment they had. Toilets and showers clean and tidy, with pipping hot water. Will certainly return 

Yurt glamping at its best

The location was beautiful and tranquil even though we didn't get the weather we would have hoped for. 

Although we did have a nice time, there were issues with the yurt and facilities. 

We arrived on 20th August and had Primrose Yurt booked out. The yurt itself was dirty and had not been cleaned sufficiently, the crockery was dirty and clearly hadn't been checked before we arrived, there was tea remains and food remains on the plates. 

The fire was not cleaned prior to our arrival, nor was the BBQ and there was no firepit as advertised on the website. 

There was leak in the yurt (we had heavy rain and had to use a pan to catch the water in the middle of the floor). 

The slats in the day bed were loose and we had to fix them in order to use the bed. Although the sheets were clean, the same could not be said for the duvet and pillows themselves, there were stains on these. 

The fairy lights did not work as the cable was clearly broken so it was very dark in the yurt in the evening. 

The toilet and shower facilities were not clean (especially during the current covid situation). 

The yurt and site was not as advertised on the website so I would be careful when thinking of booking here. We have made a complaint and we are getting nothing back from them at all. At £400 for 2 nights for 2 of us we would have expected a lot more.

Beautiful views but the site and yurts need a lot of attention.

We stayed in willow yurt for 3 nights away in August - 3 kids, 2 adults and it was lovely. The yurt was clean and tidy and the views were stunning. We had great weather and the kids enjoyed playing in the river nearby. 
The little shop with wifi was stocked well and the toilets were clean with nice hot showers. Everything was as it said on the website.
The only downside is the 4pm check in time, which is a bit late, but other than that we would definitely go again and stay longer.

Great little place

This was our second time staying in these beautiful Yurts. This time we were a group of 30 peeps and had all the Yurts booked out. The weather was a trifle wet, but we made the best of it and the yurts are super cosy when the fuel-burning stove is lit (it takes only about 5 mins to heat up). We swam in the river several times over the weekend and the kids had the best time exploring the site, the surrounding fields near the river & stream & just enjoying the outdoors. The yurts are cosy & the beds all comfortable, even the fold down futons. They were immaculate when we arrived & tastefully decorated..we love the Yurts! Nic & Tam, the owners, are super friendly & accommodating & pretty much leave you to yourself over your stay, as the shop is an honesty shop & you pretty much look after all your own needs during your stay, which gives you lots of independance & time to yourself, which we like. However, they are around and available should you need something. The area is beautiful, and seems extremely remote, although it is only about 1hr 20 mins drive from Edinburgh. We're a;ready planning our next trip there for next year, can't wait.

50th birthday Yurt bonanza!

Myself, my husband and 3 yr old daughter have just returned from a great stay at Ettrick Valley Yurts. 

The tent was warm and comfortable. Facilities were great, including the little shop which was handy for BBQ and fire supplies.  

The scenery and location completely exceeded our expectations, it was beautiful. We were lucky enough to have the Willow yurt, which I’d argue has the best views overlooking the stream. We paddled for hours with our daughter in the stream and loved every minute. 

Unfortunately on our last night our daughter, who suffers with asthma, became very ill and we were forced to call an ambulance. Nick, who runs the campsite, could not have been kinder or more helpful, which was a huge support at such a scary time. Thankfully our daughter is fine now and, despite the hiccup, we really enjoyed our stay. 

It is worth noting in the current climate that while this incident was not coronavirus related, we did talk to Nick about what would have happened had her illness turned out to be COVID. Nick and the team we’re clearly very well organised and prepared, taking every possible precaution and having effective plans in place should a guest develop symptoms. They’re clearly working hard to keep everyone safe.

Lovely campsite with great hosts

What a wonderful experience to stay in one of these yurts (we stayed in Willow 27-32 july). Everything is perfectly taken care of, from the moment you arive to departure. The facilities are clean and have everything you need. The honesty shop has some essentials (like shampoo, wood or canned food) but this is also the place to find wifi, a socket and a shared fridge and microwave.
A very nice detail is that they have nice toilet paper!

The staff is very friendly and helpful and the yurts are just perfect and so special! Everything is very clean and the prices in the honesty shop are more than reasonable.

The location is perfect, just know you will have no phone signal! For emergencies rhe staff is very welcome to let you use the landline to by example make enquiries for a restaurant.

We felt very welcome and comfortable at Errick Valley Yurts and if you are planning to stay in the Scottish Borders, this is definitely a good choice!

We had a wonderful stay!

Can honestly say hand on heart one of the worst experiences ever  every yurt we went to were full of blue bottles I was sick, n still makes my skin crawl, demanded money bk after 1 night, was a nightmare, he gave us our money bk but never again

Stayed here last August for a bday present.

I drove here on my motorbike and there was space for it and you are so far out in the beautiful country side no trouble with theft. Either way, I arrived quite late, I was in a rough mood from driving all day, and some eggs I brought for breakfast broke and soaked my clothes and the owner offered to wash my clothes for me. In the mean time he offered us coffee. He would also check on us occaisionally to see if we have everything we need. Would recommend to all who would like a weekend getaway.

Motorbike friendly

Set in the wilds. Very occasionally the sound of a lone car - but not often. Area is teeming with wild life. Great for families to learn about nature. Yurts are well maintained and spacious. One little quibble more directions needed

In The Wild With All The Mod Cons

From the website the yurt is described as quiet, warm, and ... magical!

Check-in is from 4pm onwards - please note that in winter this means arriving in the dark to a freezing yurt which needs at least one hour after arrival to warm up to a bearable temperature. (We arrived at 4.30pm). In the meantime your breath freezes just as if you are outside. 

Bedding has been left in cold and clammy environment so it needs to be well aired and warmed before use, so it would probably help to take your own bedding.

We were the only people on site, and our allocated yurt was located next to the main road between Moffat and Selkirk so traffic is passing by within metres... not peaceful or idyllic at all (check it out on Google maps).

The owner eventually offered a yurt further away from the road, but by that point it was raining, even darker, and we would need to go through the whole process of trying to heat it up from freezing again, so declined.

By the way, communication with the owner is by telephone on site... he did not appear ("not there" when we arrived and had the yurt hurriedly opened by somebody who had arrived in a car; "bad flu" when we called later to try to find out what options there were to find any warmth, since I was travelling with kids. by the way there are no options on site to keep warm).

Door would not lock, so T&C's referring to no responsibility around lost property should be carefully noted.

Shower and toilet room have no heating (there is hot water) so prepare for extreme cold.

Water is from a local well - given the generally dismal appearance of the site, I would be careful about how fresh the water might be. We did not use any.

We were so dismayed that we just turned around and left within one hour. Take note - this is absolutely unsuitable accommodation for this time of year. The owner simply doesn't appear able to care, although hopefully things could improve on the back of feedback.

The owner's response, when I fed back my experience, was that my expectations were wrong, that I had chosen the specific yurt (no - actually the yurt that was confirmed in the booking - with no bunk beds -  was not the one we were taken to) and that I had been happy (again and absolutely no!)...  I was told that "camping" was just probably not for me... maybe that's why I had chosen "glamping" for December.

One thing is for sure... prepare for a dismal dismal experience with a miserable welcome and worse than non-existent customer service...  I didn't ask for any compensation: money couldn't actually compensate for the level of disappointment that this experience provided. Yes, we lost cash, but more importantly we lost an experience that we had naively believed would be "magical" as advertised, but turned out to be truly dismal... I'm so glad that we took the difficult decision to cut our losses and get out of there.

Keep my money, owner of this sad site, and I hope it purchases you a measure of magic that you are unable to provide to your customers.

Definitely not the "magical glamping experience" advertised online... Be very very wary of going in winter.
