Fantastic place to eat , drink and relax.Ordered the chefs  curry and enjoyed every mouthful .Warm welcome with first class service and a big smile highly recommended.The go to pub for us and are never disappointed.

We live locally and went here for an evening meal as part of the government's Eat Out to Help Out scheme.

To be honest, it's a bit of a strange place; set on a junction, from the outside, it looks like a basic traditional pub, except perhaps, for the fresh coat of paint.  Oh how deceptive.

Having booked our table over the phone, we arrived and discovered that they were right on the ball with the Covid-19 formalities.  We were shown to our table in the restaurant area, which was light and airy.  The staff were right on it and excellent with the service.

Like I say, this place it deceptive; from the outside it looks like it should be cheap, possibly with a couple of old blokes supping bitter from underneath their flat caps.  One look at the menu and the prices tell another story - I think the top-priced item was a steak at over £30.00.  To be honest, if it wasn't for the government's scheme, this would be out of my usual price range.  

We had burgers which came with chips.  All the meals were piping hot and cooked to perfection.  The decor and ambiance was very relaxing and we felt perfectly at home.  It was definitely a pleasant experience.

We had around 75 guests at the Cefn Mably for my birthday, we paid for the buffet and were not disappointed. Very welcoming, plenty of service at the bar throughout the night. We would highly recommend the food for a meal on any night of the week. Family owned, nice people well priced. We did not stay the night as we live local.

We had a big family gathering here at Cefn for my sister’s  birthday. We were impressed by the quality of food and presentation. I had lamb and it was very tender and juicy. We are planning on coming here again soon.

Went there with my wife and kids last week for our Sunday lunch. Really enjoyed our meals. Service was also very good, friendly and helpful. Will definitely be back soon. £16 for two courses very good value.

We had a fantastic experience here for a 2 night stay.
The room was spacious with a lovely en-suite with a bath and shower with very good pressure.  Our room was by the road but we always bring earplugs in case of this eventuality and we enjoyed a good night's sleep.
We brought our dog with us and there was space for her as well.
The bar and restaurant staff were very attentive and accommodating of our dog.  The food was a really high standard and there were some different dishes on the specials board that we enjoyed.  We also appreciated that the restaurant sourced produce locally.
Finally, they had a good range of real ales and ciders.
Breakfast was not included but this was perfect for us as we wanted to get out early and just picked up something to takeaway locally.
This place is excellent value and we had a wonderful stay.

This hotel/gastropub seems to have two separate Tripadvisor pages so I'll be leaving my review on both of them.

The Cefn Mably is a small gastropub in Penarth, about a 20min drive from central Cardiff, and on a largely quiet street. The kitchen was unfortunately closed during our stay, but we were made aware of this prior to booking - and the staff, to their credit, were all to happy to make recommendations or facilitate food delivery services. 

The rooms are very basic but they're clean and affordable. That's really all a budget-conscientious traveller needs. Don't go in expecting luxury linens, toiletries, or the like and you'll be perfectly happy. The beds are comfortable and there is a functioning television with terrestrial television. 

Literally the only reason for 4* over 5* was the lack of Wi-Fi. Again, this was advertised prior to booking so I cannot complain too much. But it was nevertheless disappointing, as in this day and age even hostels typically offer this service.

Stayed here mid august 2021  with my daughter & ned the dog, we wanted a 3 night break for a reasonable price with good facilities & were not dissapointed , the room was nice & clean the beds comfortable & the staff friendly , we only ate in the restaurant on one evening as we had the dog with us but he was fine , we had the special of the day which was lovely though i cant remember what it was now . Great having a secure car park at the rear of the hotel though space was a bit tight , we would stay here again.

Despite us booking the wrong dates, the friendly Cefn Mably staff were, thankfully, able to fit us in. We had a rear room overlooking the car park which was ideal. The room was comfortable and clean. Bed was a bit soft but was OK for the stay. Bathroom was clean and well stocked. Noise from the pub downstairs was not an issue. We had a great evening meal. It is in a good location being just a short drive to the airport yet walking distance to the centre of Penarth with all its charm

I have to say I was pleasantly surprised to find Cefn Mably totally transformed.

Excellent value and service

Basic but clean rooms in a nice spot

short stay with our dog.

Very accommodating and friendly place

No main course only Sunday Lunch, you have to have two or three courses with a Sunday Lunch!
Great main course, we had beef which was very nice.
Very nice staff, polite and helpful.
Quick service with a smile.
It's a pub with nice bar meals.
I will return.
