Went to buy evening meals and just witnessed different staff shouting across the room to each other /yelling for other staff and then just yelling out loud for restaurant to hear that they had no staff - total chaos and lack of professionalism.  Served incorrect food badly cooked.  Do not recommend - all other patrons looked either upset/angry at the wait or bemused by the spectacle

We normally travel to Norwich for my Brother's Birthday and this year stayed at the Nelson Hotel.
My review is slightly split, as we changed rooms from the original one we were given.
I initially paid £100 a night but was lucky enough to see that the rooms had been dropped down to £35 a night, so cancelled my booking and re booked at the cheaper rate.  If i had paid £200 for the initial box room we were given, I'd have been bitterly dissapointed but for £35 a night was a fairer price for the room.
View of the car park was dismal and depressing. There was only 1 set of towels and no plug point/USB points at the side of the beds.  There was also an awful smell of paint in the corridors.
I spoke to Sarah on reception about the lack of plug points/USB. She was extremely polite and helpful and offered to change our room, to one that had points at the side of the bed.
We moved to room 21, which she said wasn't sold as a premier plus room but had all the facilities.
The room was spacious, bright, had a river view and a lovely bathroom. You also get perks like an upgraded coffee machine, although ours leaked, nicer furniture (still only had 1 set of towels and a quarter of a toilet roll)
Going forward, it looks like if you want something a bit better than a box room with a bed, you need to pay extra for a Premier Plus room.
On a side note, we booked the breakfast and evening meal package for 1 night and breakfast only for the 2nd night. The £26.99 for 2 courses in the evening + a drink and breakfast in the morning seemed a good deal.
Make sure you check what food/drink carries extra charges as we were presented with a bill for £13.59 for extras.  I also think it's like lunchtime menus, the portion sizes seem to shrink!

Good location for what we needed

Sarah and Shell offered incredible
service. Really attentive and caring.

I stayed as a solo female traveller and raised concerns late in the eve re. the location of my room (feeling v far away from
staff).

My concerns were addressed
immediately and they even gave a care package

Across the railway station and close to some historical buildings such as Dragon Hall, The Guildhall, Strangers' Hall, Norwich Castle and Norwich Cathedral. Staff are wonderful and polite. The room was big with everything needed. A freezer would have been good in the room.  It was quiet and had the perfect temperature, a comfortable bed and good pillows. The bathroom was good. The hotel provided everything for a comfy two night’s stay.

Room was spot less and the bed super comfy, only had one towel for 2 but we got another at reception no problem. :)

Fantastic!!!

No problems checking-in or with our room upon arrival. Everything was to the usual PI standard, although our room did look a bit tired. Fortunately someone had left the AC on, so the room was quite cool, which was pleasant as it was one of the Sept heat-wave days. We got a good early-booking price so all in all this was a good stay for the money paid.

I took my mum for her birthday as we live all over the country. My sister lives in norfolk so we all met up. We had a lovely time. The staff were amazing especially Sarah who checked us in the the 29th September. She was so very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was amazing so much choice and we had an evening meal on the last night which was very good and excellent value for money. I would definitely stay there again. Thank you for a wonderful stay.  

Sarah the receptionist is great as are all the staff but she went that extra mile.

All the usual things that are solid and god about a premier inn but I just wanted to say particularly how lovely the staff are here. So helpful and friendly and professional. Would really recommend staying here.

We always go to the Nelson for our Friday lunch. Always met with a smile and a nice atmosphere.  Food was great 😊

Nice enough , stayed here a few times but in recent years now have to pay to leave my car in the car park, whilst paying to stay in the hotel. 

Why is that ? When paying for the stay you have to pay ? Never can understand it. That's why I can't give a better rating.
