Excellent town center location, friendly staff

The room in the pub was clean. The pub itself was tired and the garden area was overgrown and messy. The building had scaffholding and the men appeared right outside the window one morning without warning. Late night noise from pub goers caused disturbance one evening and the people setting up the market early hours 4am on Saturday morning made for very disturbed sleep. The pub is in a good location for all amenites in the town. Staff didnt warn us about the men arriving on the scaffholding.

...In the Winter. 

Stayed in a lovely room (more of that later) but it fronted right on to the main drag and oh the noise... the noise was awful. Irate motorists (more than usual; don't know if that's a 'Marlborough thing'), an inordinate amount of truly inconsiderate motorcyclists and late night revellers made getting to sleep really difficult - especially with the windows open (hence the seasonal reference), and as early as 06:00 the next day both the former were doing their best to waken us!

None of this though is the fault of the owners and staff and to them we extend a heartfelt thanks for what was an otherwise enjoyable stay. The room was utterly charming, full of character, comfortable, spacious and well appointed. The people who looked after us could not be friendlier or accommodating (shout out to the lads behind the bar who plied me with 6X), and even the patrons were great company.

So, yes, definitely returning when we can keep the bedroom windows closed and if I lived in Marlborough it would be my exclusive local.

Charming rooms in lovely old pub. Very clean and very comfortable beds. Location is great as it overlooks high street. The pub has lots of charm and the rooms are very nice. Very well stocked tea and coffee facilities. Yes they don’t serve breakfast but you know that when you book.

Beautiful rooms; lovely pub.

An old building with wonky flooring and lovely beams. Our room was up two flights of a spiral staircase, the room was clean, spacious, the bed comfy and the room comes with all the usually items you'd expect.The pub itself had a good selection of drinks and a good selection of food items - which are reasonably priced.The service is polite and friendly

Nice overnight stay.

Our bedroom was spacious and clean - as was the bathroom. All the usual amenities you'd expect from a hotel are available.

The pub was busy, but from our room we couldn't hear any noise. The pub has a good selection of food and drink, and the service is friendly.

A nice one night stay 

It is well situated right in the heart of the town but after that I struggle to find positives. No on-site parking (Pay and display in the town).  Our room was a small attic room at the top of a winding narrow staircase. The window didn't open. The rooms were not properly serviced between our two nights - nobody touched the bathroom and the coffee sachets were not replenished.  Our friends bed remained unmade. Some might describe it as quaint with the walls, floors and ceiling really so far out of level?  There was no breakfast but around the corner about 50yds away was the Bear Cafe which was very good for an english breakfast at reasonable cost.
So all in all it was disappointing.

Room not up to standard - especially for the price

Three old school friends gathered in Marlborough to chat about the past and catch up on 40 years of news. Green Dragon was a great venue for a few pints of Wadsworth before & after evening. Very friendly staff. Not serving food that Sunday evening so ate elsewhere

Evening Drink

Quirky old property with very large room, helpful staff and right in the centre of town. No hot water initially but this was quickly sorted out. Had a great breakfast at Bunces in the High Street. Great base for exploring Avebury and surroubding area.
