Lovely to see this iconic london venue still open , after all these years . (Iron maiden originally used to play there in the 'early days '.  Still have rock/HM bands regually .     Just like the old days when I used to go  in the 70's (!!!)     when I first saw Iron Maiden first play ......

Live music lives in the cart n  'orses (!)

Came to see ABBA voyage stumbled across this little gem. Not metal fans but for those who are get yourselves here. Staff are very helpful and you will love the atmosphere and the music. Loads of Iron Maiden memorabilia for you to look at and merchandise to buy. Not cheap but if you are a fan you'll love it.

A greatest pub I have ever come across in my life, Being a big Iron Maiden to come to the place Iron Maiden started off was just amazing. There are lots of posters and photos of the band all over the place. Staff are very friendly and the drinks are good prices.

Came here for a blind date and had a great time, drinks were cheap and they had a live band but the best part was that it was a pub full of Iron maiden stuff because this is were the band started from

The staff, and Kastro were extremely welcoming to me, from the U.S, my friend from China.  I came for Iron Maiden, but the atmosphere was like having a beer and a shot at home and that for me is the mark of a great pub. Definitely will return.

Running Free

A small pub with probably the tiniest and most awkward gents toilets I have ever come across in my life, yet famous for being where the rock band Iron Maiden started off. lots of posters and photos of the band all over the place. Bar staff were keen and it is popular with West Ham fans as only a short walk away from their home ground in Stratford.

Thank you Cart and Horses. I am vegetarian and today you delivered for me without me thinking I was different.  The meal was delicious and the choices were amazing. The team were so accommodating. I am coming back for more

Loved the menu

This bar is located is Stratford just a stones throw from the station. This is a pilgrimage for all Iron Maiden fans and mind you I wanted to stand barefoot on the floor as the it should be considered hallowed ground. I arrived on a Monday night so if I’m being honest it was slow. I had the Iron Maiden ale. I am not a beer drinker but I was surprised at how gentle it was. The bar is full of memorabilia, the bartender was unbelievably sweet and the pool table is in great condition. I had a brew, listened to Maiden, made some friends and got to stand in the place where on of the greatest bands to ever exist got it’s humble start. I couldn’t be happier.

Brave new world

From the outside, the Cart & Horses in Maryland Point, Stratford E15, looks like many a London drinking hole. But on closer inspection, a few recognisable logos hint at something most don't have - a claim to e the birthplace of arguably one of London's, and England's, most loved and celebrated heavy bands: Iron Maiden. 

It was here, in 1976, that Iron Maiden really cut it's teeth, and the memorabilia inside the pub backs it up. Photos, dates, guestbooks, letters, sit along side posters, LPs, singles and other rock and metal memorabilia. The pub still hosts live music on it's small stage, including premier tribute bands to Iron Maiden, Metallica, Motörhead, etc.

But the pub itself isn't just for metal heads: it's a great place to just chill with a beer or meet friends for a drink, especially since it's so close to the city with great transit links: Maryland Station is literally across the road, only minutes from Stratford olympic village and Westfield shopping centre, with Liverpool St station only a few minutes further along. There's a pool table, several large-screen TVs showing live sports, plenty of seating and tables for it's very reasonably priced menu; both full main meals menu and bar snacks/light-bite menu, and one thing missing from so many pubs nowadays - BAR STOOLS! It's great to sit on a proper stool at a proper bar with a proper beer! And proper beers it has - naturally it has the usual array of lagers, ales, bitters, you'd expect in an east London pub, along with the full range of Iron Maiden's Trooper branded beer, as well as ciders and wines. 

It's got a great atmosphere, everyone is welcome; rock fans and regular folk alike. The pub owner, Kastro Pergjoni is a very nice fellow indeed, and just like his bar staff is happy to come chat at the bar and show you his Maiden collection. 

I'm not close enough to be a regular, unfortunately, but that won't stop me going back when I can for a pint (or few) with an amazing soundtrack. 

(Can't comment on the hotel side as I've never stayed here; my review is for the bar/pub only)

A haven (or heaven?) for metal-heads!

For the name it has it really does not live up to its name. This is the hotel side not the bar even though was very loud and pretty sure there was a fight too. A lot of arguments. Could not sleep due to the noise downstairs and outside and train rattling the building, Stained carpets and very patchy from replacements, stains on my pillow bedding and towels. The shower was shared between 9 rooms also. But had to wear socks as was very dirty. Some of the beds we had were broken. Really could do with a refurb then maybe you will have Better customers and more people staying there. Never again VILE
