Stayed from 2nd Feb till 4th Feb. We were in room Dalmore which was a fantastic kingsize terraced sea view room with cooking facilities on the ground floor. This was an unexpected upgrade. Views from the room were stunning and the same can be said for the restaurant. The staff were a credit to the hotel. All staff were very pleasant and helpful at all times. Unfortunately we had to leave a day early due to inclement weather and the hotel were so kind in not charging for the night we could not stay .We will definitely return to The Western Isles Hotel when visiting Mull. Thank you for a fantastic stay.

Short stay at the Western Isles Hotel

We book for a week long stay in The Western Isles Hotel in January 2024 almost exactly one year in advance. At the time of booking, for a dog-friendly double room, we were pleasantly surprised at the very reasonable rate offered by our online booking agent for 7 nights bed and breakfast. To make things even better the agent immediately awarded us a room upgrade to double room with a Harbour View.

As the trip got closer and we compared our price with the offers available we bcame convinced that there had been an error and that we would be asked to pay much more... but this never happened.

On our arrival, there was an initial mix up in our room allocation, having been given the keys for a 2nd floor twin room, which had not yet been prepared by housekeeping. Alistair (the superstar) at reception then searched for an available, suitable, prepared room and we were swiftly offered a Sea View Terraced Room in the lower ground floor which we happily accepted. 

This room was at the front of the hotel immediately below the conservatory, breakfast and dining room. It had a door out onto an enclosed terrace, which was ideal for our dog, Glen. The terrace offered stunning views across Tobermory Bay. The bed was very comfortable, The bathroom with walk in shower was excellent. There was plenty of hanging space and storage available in the wardrobe.

The staff at WIH are extremely friendly and helpful; with a special mention not only for Alistair, but also Darcy (and Finn, the reception dog), Cris (breakfast waiter) and warm thanks to all the other staff; front of house, domestic and kitchen. Everything was spot on

It truly could not have been any better

We had another excellent stay at the Western, couldn’t fault a single thing. Every member of staff we encountered were friendly, helpful and a credit to the hotel. We stayed in one of the terrace rooms which have been designed and decorated to a very high standard. All this and it’s very dog friendly! We took advantage of the local deal and it was fantastic value for money. Highly recommend a stay here and we’ll definitely be back

Another great stay

Had an excellent meal at the restaurant last night. Very tasty food, lovely presentation and excellent service last night from Adam and Chris.  Have been at the hotel for drinks several times during my stay in Tobermory and the welcome and service from all the team is always warm and friendly and very welcome 🤗.  Thank you all.

Excellent restaurant experience.

In a fantastic spot overlooking Tobermory Bay. Outstanding views and hotel gradually being restored by new owner. There are some very modern rooms but I stayed in an older one and loved its charm.
Restaurant had a very friendly atmosphere, good service and food was good too.

My husband and I had yet another wonderful stay at the Western Isles Hotel.  We have stayed here several times and always get a very friendly, warm welcome, whether we are residents or coming up for food and drinks as non-residents.  Very smooth experience from enquiring about and booking our stay to checking out.  We had a lovely room, with the comfiest bed, a wonderful meal, tasty and varied breakfast and fabulous service from all staff throughout.  A very friendly and relaxed atmosphere, and a much needed chill out for us, thank you 😊

We have just stayed at this beautiful hotel  within this Victorian building , Hotel which offers accommodation of the highest standards and spotlessly clean,   Interior décor of the Sea  View  Terrace is out standing with terrace over looking the stunning Tobermory harbour and the town . All staff are friendly and so welcoming.  Conservatory restaurant is understated chique . Dinner was exquisite quality, presented well  & served by first class staff . Breakfast was superb both in terms of options and quality. Excellent night's sleep in a luxurious bed. Brian - Assistant Manager , Adam in Restaurant are a great asset to Western Isles Hotel Team .

Stunning hotel in a beautiful Victorian building situated above Tobermory harbour on the beautiful Isle of Mull

We’ve just spent a night at the western isles and had a spectacular stay from start to finish. 

Every single member of staff we met was totally delightful and we were made to feel so welcome, even with a mischievous 1 year old.

The room was spotlessly clean, with a big cosy fresh bed and lovely views.

The quality of the dinner and breakfast was exceptional. We had the lamb shanks and mushroom risotto for dinner and full Scottish and continental for breakfast, and we were not disappointed. The conservatory and the stunning views are again so beautiful. 

We are very happy and we’ll rested. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Amazing Stay

I stayed here with my two small dogs for three nights to celebrate the New Year. The view from my room overlooked the bay and was simply spectacular.
My bed was extremely comfortable and the room spotless.

All of the staff I met were friendly, welcoming, attentive not just to me but my dogs too. It was a joy to see other guests with their dogs.

The breakfast choice was excellent as was the dinner menu. On NYE the entertainment was delightful and a lot of us ended the year dancing and singing along to the band. At midnight Tobermory arranged a spectacle of fireworks and we had prime viewing position on the veranda.

I definitely will come back to the hotel on my revisit to the island. Mull has stunning scenery; it is simply one of the most beautiful islands in the UK, with Tobermory it’s jewel.

Room with a view

This is a charming and grand old hotel in the main town of Mull. We spent Hogmanay here and it was great. The room met expectations and the bed was comfortable. We particularly liked that the hotel is genuinely dog-friendly and many other guests have dogs which makes for a lovely atmosphere.  There are lovely communal rooms to relax in. Staff are very professional and do a great job, particularly Darcy on reception and other front desk staff. There is an excellent walk from the hotel to the lighthouse which is truly exceptional. Breakfast is decent and there was a good variety. If you want a dog-friendly break in a great location you can't do better!
