I actually went to this restaurant twice while staying in the area. The ambiance is so nice with the fire on and the smell of all the lovely food options. 
The staff were very welcoming. 
I went fir the Thai curry option and also tried a Greek dish so good and lots of choices for all the family 
I will definitely be coming here again

What fab food

Such a welcome from the staff, the pub was warm and cosy the minute you stepped foot inside the door from the fabulous fire.  Great atmosphere, good menu a lot of choices, the food was delicious and the staff very friendly and efficient.  Well worth a visit

Lovely welcoming friendly pub

There was a family group of 18 of us for Sunday lunch Everything was perfect and we all enjoyed ourselves  The food and service were excellent  It was lovely cosy  and warm  We have been for the last four years as we meet half way from Devon and Salisbury and really look forward to our get together here

Excellent family group lunch

Pub has warm cosy village feel and the staff very friendly. Problem is they allow dogs in and roaming free off leads in the restuarant made for a unpleasant experience as a lurcher kept sniffing up at our table. The owner did move tables a little later to feed the dog from his dog bowl in front of the restuarant - all seen by the staff. The smell of dog food did not help the dessert go down! Expensive ordinary food did not help. Fish was very overcooked and barely edible although game pie was OK. In my opinion £18 for fish and chips with £8.50 for a dessert is well over the top for this experience. What is it with people who think it is acceptable to bring dogs into indoor eating places? Not so long ago you would have been thrown out for 'heath and safety' rules - whats happened to that. No wonder these pubs are struggling - never again - I will be asking about dogs before booking a table from now on.

Lovely pub with community feel. Friendly staff. Great food even off- season lunchtime when seemed to be nothing else open nearby. Have a pizza oven at the back. Real fire just what was needed on a cold day. Steak frites perfect. They were happy for me tojust sit there with a coffee on my computer while husband went off to do errands nearby. Will return 

Lovely place, roaring fire, great food and atmosphere

Booked for Sunday lunch with family and wasn't disappointed. From the moment we arrived the staff were very attentive and nothing was to much trouble. The food was delicious and the portion size was generous. Will definitely come again, cracking country pub, highly recommend! 

Delicious Sunday Roast 

We visited as a family for Sunday lunch.

Make sure you book as it was very busy and there were no free tables.

And the reason was obvious as soon as we walked in. The pub is very tastefully decorated and has a lovely country inn feel.

Staff were friendly and welcoming.

Our roast lunch was superb. I had the beef, which was perfect for me, nice and pink.
We asked for extra roast potatoes and a bowl of 8 or 10 arrived.
There was so much veg we struggled to eat it all and it was all nicely cooked and presented.

It’s not the cheapest at £18 for adults but the meal was faultless so I was more than happy with the price.

If you want quality you have to pay for it and the food at The Bell is very high quality.

Cracking village pub

The Bell was one base we identified for guests who were attending a family wedding locally. I reserved all the rooms some months ago and Carol was so helpful with the booking - being flexible with changes, liaising with our guests and so on.
The Bell is in the centre of the village and very attractive outside and in. The bedrooms are not inside the pub but rather, form a purpose built annexe attached to the main building, with all rooms opening directly onto or overlooking the pub garden, which is next to the road.
The rooms are small I feel it's fair to say.  There are king-sized beds(one side against the wall) and though there is a separate loo with a sink, there isn't a bathroom, the shower cubicle being in the bedroom and opposite the bed.
All linens are lovely quality and the rooms are decorated very nicely. The view over fields from the window is lovely. Tea and coffee is provided in the rooms and that's good quality too!
I can't emphasise enough how warm the welcome was when we arrived and how wonderfully friendly The Bell team were throughout our stay. They couldn't do enough to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. Lovely people. Really great.
We didn't have dinner at the pub but breakfast was super. Full English (very flexible on the combination of elements!!) or Continental; delicious croissants.
We live too far away to ever make The Bell somewhere we could easily return to. However, I have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending it as a place to stay and be well looked after. Thank you all. x

So welcoming

We ate here as a family of 6. Food was lovely, service was excellent 2 of our group stayed behind for a few more drinks and got talking to Steve, the barman and they were explaining that we were staying 2 miles away in Ilminster to attend a wedding the next day but had been unable to book any taxis as every firm we tried told us they were fully booked. Steve began phoning around for us and we soon had cabs booked! We were so grateful! This is service above and beyond!! I would recommend this establishment. Thanks Steve!!

Good food, amazing service

What a wonderful super friendly village pub ! lovely staff and we were made to feel very welcome indeed, Great home cooked menu and the option of freshly made pizza from the wood fired oven! the room was clean and comfortable with high quality fresh linen.
 The children were made to feel very welcome and the sunday roast was the best we have had!! parking is at a premium so get there early as the pub gets so busy.
Would highly recommend this place !
