I knew we were going to like Puddleduck Valley before we arrived, but we absolutely LOVED it.  We stayed in Buttermilk Cottage and it was spotless.  It had everything you need to make your stay comfortable and easy, including a secure garden that even my little dog couldn't escape from. The hot tub was a definite hit with my kids, although it does take 2.5 hours to get hot so don't expect to get in straight away.
Phil and Melanie are the perfect hosts - Melanie even put on an Easter egg hunt for all the children staying that weekend.  The location is idyllic, perfect if you want to get away from your busy life.  The walk to the local pub is an adventure, or if you want the sea, you are half an hour drive from Bude. The TV reception was a bit hit and miss, but this just meant we spent our time playing board games or reading. It was great to get the kids away from their screens!  I just wished we had stayed longer. I cannot recommend Puddleduck Valley enough.

The perfect getaway from busy lives

Phil and Melanie were the best hosts we could’ve asked for! Buttermilk cottage was everything we were expecting and more, filled with lots of comforts and goodies! The cottage itself is packed with everything you possibly need for your relaxing break away.
The ecofriendly Hot tub was such a lovely way to end our days after the most perfect walks out with our pup. 
Such a lovely place to wind down and spend quality time with loved ones!

Home away from Home

Beautiful, peaceful location.  We stayed in Buttermilk Cottage. Great communication from hosts. Bed in main bedroom was enormous! Good facilities - unfortunately we couldn’t enjoy the outdoors as much as we would have liked due to poor weather but the seating was nice & there was a BBQ. We enjoyed the hot tub although it does take about 2.5hrs to heat up so you’ll need to plan for that. Bathroom was lovely & had everything we needed. Good location for getting to beaches about 30mins to an hour away. We loved Woolacombe and Bude. Also nice country walks which our dog enjoyed. Would definitely recommend this place for a peaceful get-away. 

Peaceful getaway

Lovely peaceful stay with beautiful views and all the facilities you could need. The host was excellent too when we had a query which was brilliant. Lots to explore in the local area and many different things to see. Was great for the two of us!

Great little stay for 2

Me and my partner stayed for 3 nights in the stables along with our spaniel and had the perfect weekend break away. We choose to stay at puddle duck valley after reading some great reviews and it did not disappoint. The hosts were great from the start and couldn’t do anymore to make our stay perfect. The cottage itself was a very good size, had everything you needed and was comfortable an clean. The best part was the wood fired hot tub which was nice and secluded and was a great addition to relax in each evening after a long dog walk. We’ve already had a look at booking again as we had such a great time, would 100% recommended for a nice relaxing weekend away 

Perfect relaxing weekend away

After a short 4 night stay we would most definitely stay again ! A beautiful barn loft conversion with period features .. the home was spotless and fresh upon entering ( I’m calling it a home because it felt like our home ) , fresh eggs , milk ,cakes and butter upon arrival made us feel welcome . Beds were comfortable and bedding was high quality and we was cool during a very warm week due to the thick stone walls . 

Melanie and Phil were fantastic hosts and would refer them to all ,making us feel at ease and anything we needed they sorted straight away and having a toddler meant there was bound to be things we forgot to bring with us .

Home from home.

Lovely owners did everything to help. We were in buttermilk cottage which was kitted out really well .  I was quiet and tranquil and our little whippet appreciated the enclosed garden to potter about in. We had a long walk on westward Ho sands, a visit to Lydford Gorge ,not to be missed!
We ate at the Black River Inn ,close by. Tapas type food ..fabulous.  also sat on the balcony at the Beach hotel Bude and had a fabulous meal.

Perfect relaxing week. Everything was beter than our expectations

This is our third trip to Puddleduck Valley and never disappoints. The accommodation is of a high standard and has every thing you would expect. The location is great and allows for both country and coastal walks There are lots of activities on and off site that are within easy reach.
It was a great holiday location and we will return for more visits

Fantastic stay

I don’t use this term lightly but I can honestly say this was the best Holliday I’ve ever been on.

Bearing in mind, I am 30 years old so a lot of holidays have been enjoyed but this simply tops them all. The most relaxing atmosphere possible with birds chirping in the background and wonderfully comfortable beds.

In the day, there are activists like petting a goat or feeding Guinea pigs leaves and in the night, sitting in the hot tub and staring at the stars.

This will be, without any shadow of a doubt, an annual holiday for my family and I, I honestly cannot wait for next year!

BEST HOLIDAY EVER

The Stables is exactly as described, but more! 
Fantastic, peaceful location with so much for you to explore. Our children loved spending time in the woods, especially playing on the swing and ‘building dams’ in the stream.
The accommodation is immaculate, clean and beautifully furnished with such a homely feel.  We could not recommend trying the wood fired hot tub enough. We spent our evenings come rain or shine enjoying the bubbles in stunning surroundings. The goats, chickens and guinea pigs are a wonderful added extra to this special place. All the animals are so friendly. Our family enjoyed spending time feeding them and collecting eggs. The hosts were welcoming, contactable throughout our stay and knowledgeable about the local area should you have any questions. 
Overall The Stables is an absolute must for anyone looking to escape and recharge.
