Lovely old pub/hotel with very friendly service (especially the lady from the Philippines).  Good beer and the rather strange Rarebit food offering was the tastiest thing I had all week!  My wife’s food was very good and tasty too.  Would recommend.

Lovely, friendly experience with tasty food

We stayed in the Castle Suite it was gorgeous. The room is beautiful, clean and spacious with views of the river and castle. The decor is very traditional and tasteful with lovely little ornaments to give it a homely touch. There were lovely touches like a bottle of Prosecco each and chocolates on our pillows. 
The bed and pillows were very comfortable and I got an amazing nights sleep. 
The bathroom is stunning and quirky in design. 
The George has lovely friendly staff Tanya the owner and Sam the manager couldn't do enough for us. 
There is lots to do in easy reaching distance like Glastonbury, Wells, Frome, Bath and Longleat. 
Try the Sunday Roast and the food it’s all amazing.
Can’t wait to go back

An amazing friendly gorgeous place to stay

We booked this hotel as a base point for going to Babington House for Christmas party as a family due to one of our group having a brain problem.  We booked this inn well in advance and never received any information apart from not to get there till 1500hrs.
When we arrived we were meet by the manager who straight away took the full cost of the stay before then informing us that the restaurant was closed and we were unable to get food. After this devastation news we tried to find local eating places but were unable to find something open. We then contacted Babington House who understood our situation and let us book a table for 9 which came at a highly price cost to us. 
So on our return to the inn we all went to our rooms. What a disaster this turned out, one room never had any wardrobes , most rooms had TV but only 3 channels worked, we were informed an engineer was on his way to fix this problem,  the engineer never came. Two of our group left the inn for an other location.  
The two nights we stayed there our rooms never tidied or beding changed only thing we received was new tea and coffee items. 
On our last morning we confronted the owner who was sorry but put it down to lack of staff, which was hardly our fault but this was her only response. 
Would we go back or give this place a rating, NO.

Inn from Hell

There for a pre Christmas lunch. Whilst the food was very tasty and  cooked well there was so much food on the plate I hardly knew where to start.
I would be nice if some of the veg came in a serving dish.

What a gorgeous lovely welcoming Inn beautifully decorated for Christmas.
Friendly professional staff in a relaxed atmosphere with great food.
Booked bed and breakfast here last minute as a solo traveller glad I did !
Shout out to Sam the manager who made my stay extra special.
 A great host ,very attentive, made me feel very welcome and to top it off gave me a room upgrade.
What a star !


Gem of a place !

Stayed here for two nights to visit Longleat Safari park, Lovely friendly family run hotel, amazing views of the castle across the road. Jess was lovely and made us feel so welcome after our long drive to Somerset. Staff couldn’t do enough for you. It was my birthday and they went the extra mile to make it special, decorating the table, bringing out a rather special decorated dessert and a little bottle of bubbly. 
Lovely clean cosy rooms and breakfast was really nice, so much to choose from. 
Would definitely return again for another stay. 


Hidden little gem 

We spent the night there last evening.  The room was well appointed, quiet, & the bed was quite comfy.  The bath was spacious and well appointed.  There were carafes of water on each side of the bed as well as coffees or teas available.  The room was quite inviting.  There was only one thing you need to prepare for if you’re coming from the US, there were no washcloths or scrubbies.  So if you plan ahead, there is no problem.  I still am happy giving 5 stars & would recommend a stay.

Little Gem

We absolutely loved this pub. It was safe, clean and welcoming. The room was on the top floor which was fine with us but let them know if you can’t manage stairs. In room 11 there is no where to hang your clothes but lots of draws. 
The toilets in the rooms are very noisy (or at least in our room) , so if you have to wee in the night, don’t flush! It will wake the whole building up. We heard someone’s toilet flush at 5am. 
Setting is great. Food is great. Parking is free and there’s plenty of spaces. Staff are super friendly. I would definitely return!

Super, smashing, great

Our two night stay got off to a bad start, as our allocated room was up in the roof, too many stairs. We requested a change, but were told they were fully booked. As our stay progressed that appeared not to be the case. The room was very hot, there was a fan to try to circulate the hot air. The were items of clothing left by the previous occupant, the bottle for milk had not been cleaned, the tea was not replaced when used. Breakfast OK but full cream milk only front the local farm, not good when you have had semi-skimmed for the last 60 years!. A bottle of semi-skimmed was acquired from the local supermarket, which save the day.

Popular Country Hotel.

A lovely pub in a quiet village. Our room on the top floor was spacious and the bed very comfortable. The staff were very friendly and food (both dinner & breakfast were lovely).
Would definately recommend as a stay, afterall, what pub has a castle opposite.
