One of my pet hates is dirt under the bed, or chairs. 
Nothing of the sort here, the room & bathroom are as if they have just been finished & you are the first people to use it. My wife who is even more particular about cleaning came here as a returning guest, which says it all. 

My wife (who is gluten intolerant) was catered for with gluten free macaroons on arrival & the experience continued to impress up to and including the breakfast the next day (which very nearly beat me). 

Little things like the plate & cutlery sets and table in case you want a takeaway, the fridge in the corner if you want to bring your own snacks, topped with the ‘breakfast in your room service’ lends to a truly indulgent & enjoyable B&B. 

I will definitely be back & I would recommend to everyone. 

Impeccable 

My friend and I stayed here when going to the River Cottage spring festival and it was just a perfect place to stay. Everything you could possibly think of was provided to make us feel comfortable. Neither of us wanted to leave and we are both making plans to return asap. The lemon drizzle cake was just scrummy!

Perfect!

We have stayed at the Old Bakery a number of times over the last few years, on our way down to Devon and every time we are impressed with the standard Mick and Pippa keep the room and the service they provide. The room is beautifully kept with tea coffee, snacks and everything you are likely to need. We had our dog with us and a basket , bowl and biscuits are provided. The Old Bakery is in a country lane and there are plenty of walks you can take your dog on if you wish, if it gets dirty, facilities are provide to clean it
Breakfast is superb, served to you personally by Mick and Pippa. Every time we go we cannot fault it a fantastic B&B. Well done Mick and Pippa

Beautiful room with ensuite facilities and your every need thought of, better than most luxury hotels

Mick and Pip were so kind.   The room was lovely with everything you needed.  Our little terrier was very spoilt with a lovely bed and his favourite treats waiting for him in the fridge!  Was also impressed that there were plates and cutlery available should we have wanted a take-away after our long journey.  Breakfast the next morning was delicious - local produce and great coffee.  Also, Mick's famous lemon drizzle cake went down very well - a lovely touch.  A wonderful B & B en route for us down to Cornwall at the end of July.

We stayed for 3 nights and loved it.  A relaxing and well proportioned room, which included a small dining table - our hosts left home made lemon cake and other lovely treats on that every day.  We ordered our breakfast each evening and in the morning our hosts arrived punctually with a trolley laden with a wonderful and fresh cooked breakfast.  Superb quality food.  Mick and Pip are wonderful hosts.
Privacy is assured as you have your own front door and breakfast is brought to your room.

We loved our visit,  Greta facilities and wonderful hosts.

It tells you something when all the Old Bakery reviews are 5’s. There’s a reason why - it thoroughly deserves them. Not sure I can add to all the glowing comments people have already noted but we had the best time here. Not only are Mick & Pip helpful, warm & welcoming but the village was too. Fab B & B, lots to visit in area ( RSPB reserve, National Trust properties, dogwalks, lovely places to eat & drink) & I look forward to my next visit!

Just excellent!

This was our second stay at The Old Bakery and what an amazing stay again. You could not ask for a better room or better hosts.

Our dog Bandit was treated like a king with bed, bedding, towels, treats and toys all provided along with practical items such as a hose for washing down.

The bedroom is beautifully decorated and immaculate and the inclusion of a table in the room allows you to eat your breakfast with your four legged friend.

The bathroom is beautiful with bath and shower and lots of lovely touches you’d get in a high class spa. 

The hosts cannot do enough for you and the choice of breakfast would beat most. The food is cooked to perfection and all high quality products. 

I cannot speak highly enough of the care and attention that has gone into the room and if you are looking for a great dog friendly place to stay in this area you would love this place.

We did a few car journeys out to explore the area and visited Glastonbury, Bournemouth, Torquay and Swanage all of which were not too far away if you don’t mind a drive out. We thought the location made it a great base to explore these areas. 

I can’t really recommend highly enough and we will definitely be treating ourselves to another stay in the future! 

Bandit the Dog would also give the place a four paw rating (the highest he can give) and he says both hosts are 10/10 good boys and girls. He would even go as far as sharing his treats with them. He too can’t wait to stay again!

Beyond luxury and brilliant place for exploring and dog walking

The Old Bakery is a must for anyone that is travelling in this area.  A beautiful large bedroom with everything you could wish for.  King size bed, modern bathroom with hot water when needed, not just at certain times.  Well heated and your own dining table.  Cutlery and crockery in a drawer if you want a takeaway, but lots of lovely pubs serving food nearby.  Situated in a peaceful area with lots of natural beauty surrounding you.  Dog friendly too.  A little seating area outside when the weather is good.  We were staying overnight on a trip to Cornwall.  If only our accommodation in Cornwall had been as good as the little bakery.  Car parking on site.  The owners were very friendly, nothing too much trouble.  And the lemon drizzle cake is delicious.  Ours had just been baked fresh and was still a little warm.  Yummy!  We will definitely return.

Excellent B & B

All the reviews on here are accurate.  We decided to stay here for one night on our way down to Devon. It was a last minute decision, so booked at around 5pm on the Saturday for the next day.  We received an email asking us what the dogs favourite treats were, which we didn’t expect them to do, as it was such short notice and a Sunday.  Yet when we arrived, there were not only the dogs favourite treats but toys for the three of them too.  The place is spotlessly clean, very, VERY well appointed, and every need has been catered for.  There are maps and local places of interest brochures in the drawers, plus local takeaway menus too.  Mick and Pip are friendly and welcoming, they really make your stay special, very much welcome their doggy guests and nothing seems too much trouble.  As other reviews have stated, Mick’s Lemon Drizzle Cake is gorgeous, and the cooked breakfast is delicious too!  We have plans to stay in the future for more than one night, the location is so peaceful, the room is so comfortable and homely, the dogs were comfortable and happy.  What an absolute find.  Thank you Mick and Pip for a memorable and amazing stay.  Everything you did for us was very much appreciated.  Genuinely, this place is the VERY BEST dog friendly B & B you could EVER stay in. Intelligence + Experience = PERFECTION!!  Wish we could rate higher than 5!!

Like everyone else, we found this B&B excellent.  Spotless, great food, perfect lemon drizzle cake, lovely hosts and professionally run.  Only one niggle, whilst the water from the wash hand basin was lovely and hot, the shower and bath water wasn't.  Perhaps this was for Health and Safety reasons, but it was slightly too safe!  But in no way did it spoil our stay.  Thanks.
