We stayed at apartment no 3 185 canongate 2floor. To be honest entrance is very shabby. I was with family and got worried. We stayed for 2nights and I can now say our stay was quiet comfortable. Apartment is very spacious neat and clean. Got all the required things. However some basic are missing like salt, sugar tea coffee sachets.
Staff on given numbers is very efficient and helpful. Locations is 10/10. All attractions are close by. Waverley station is nearby. There is construction going on the back side which disturbs some time at night. Very strict about chekinn and checkout time no early or late should be expected. which is quiet understandable ond you can only understand once you stay.

last minute option

It was my Stag weekend.  I wasn't after the type of crazy weekend I would have perhaps wanted 10 years ago, but a mix of culture, sightseeing and whisky.  There were 4 of us staying in the apartment on St Mary's street, just off from the Royal Mile.  The first impression is not good.  A black, grubby, badly maintained door.  There is a keylock on the front, they give you the code for which allows you into the building.  3 floors of more grubby looking stairs with broken lighting lay ahead before you reach the apartment, where there is another coded keylock to provide the main apartment key.

When we entered the apartment we knew it had been cleaned as there was an overpowering bleach smell.  I will say this only bothered me and not my friends, I'm not a fan of the smell of bleach, and I found it to be very strong.  The apartment itself is okay.  It was clean, had all the things we needed and was fine for our stay.

I had the front bedroom.  Big mistake.  Unless you're a very heavy sleeper, you will not sleep in this room without earplugs or noise cancelling headphones.  The street noise is very bad in this room.  The bed appeared to be memory foam, but quite firm.  Was comfy for me though, but no bedside lamp or table and the wardrobe blocked access to the plugs to charge my phone.  The wardrobe was fairly cheap in nature, so I easily slid it around to access the plugs.  I then discovered that underneath the wardrobe had NEVER been cleaned.  It was disgusting.  

There were two bathrooms, both clean and functional.  The living room was small but quite good.  Small TV, but the sofa was comfy and the table and chairs would make for a good dine-in experience if that's what you decided to do.  

For our weekend it was fine.  We spent most of our time out, and so didn't need to use the appartment other than to sleep and shower.  It was also MUCH cheaper than a hotel would have cost us per person.  This is why I think 3 stars is fair.  However, if I were going for a longer stay, or perhaps staying there as couples I would look for somewhere that had a bit more to offer.  It boils down to personal choice, this is cheap and basic but does the job.

Basic.  Functional.  Okay.

Location is great but I can not say same for apartment 
As you enter the apartment there is strange smell hits you at the main entrance 
Apartment is good size but all beds included sofa really uncomfortable. Apartment is just behind station and on main road so very very noisy. There is noway you can sleep night or day 
Location is good as you can walk every where, also station is near by. 

I would say definitely I was charged high price for what I got

We spent 3 nights in the Royal Mile Apt 2, a family of 5. I am overall ok with my stay but I would not say I am happy due to the price of the appartment.
Because it is an appartment and not a hotel, witohout the "perks" and "price" of an Airbnb appartment.

1. The location is great. Right on the Royal Mile, 10 minute walk from the train station and main sights. 
2. The appartment is roomy, but the sofa bed is TERRIBLE. Anyone who sleeps in it will have back problems or a bad sleeping experience. It is really a 4 person appartment in terms of sleeping.
3. There is a full kitchen but no sugar, salt, oil, and basic groceries, which, for a 3 day stay seems silly to buy (with AirBnB at least you have a basically stocked fridge and pantry for breakfast).
4. The living room + one room along the road have paper thin windows. You can hear people in the street whisper to each other (except they don't whisper.. they talk or shout) and every car passing is like an airplane.

All in all, it was a good experience but given the price paid, we were hoping for a higher standard.

You pay for the location

First: very good location by the Royal mile and plenty of space in the apartment. But: the noise from the street and the nearby pubs made it impossible to sleep. The window glasses were so thin that you could hear people talk normally on the street below. I do also like to be welcommed by the host. We didn't see any host at all. The key were stored in a safe by the door. The price level are way too high compared to what is offered. I will not recommend this apartment.
