Hadn't stayed at The SANDS Hotel Bournemouth for quite a few years. Management and staff were excellent, really friendly and helpful. Hotel on the whole was clean and well presented. Some steps to get in, but I did see a sign for ramp access. There is a lift to all floors but some rooms have a few steps to access them. Good size Dining room (lower ground floor) food was good,and Entertainment room (ground floor) there is also a Coffee shop on the ground floor. A couple of quiet areas are a games room complete the ground floor.
Our room was clean and quiet. 
Ideally situated for a walk into the centre or there is always the bus, not far from the hotel but it's only once an hour. A Taxi works out around £5. 
Will definitely go back.

Back to Daish's Bournemouth

Stayed recently at Bournemouth Sands Hotel. Everything about our stay was excellent, from the warm welcome of the hotel staff, the comfortable room, the menu choice and service in the restaurant.  Located a short walk from the sea front is a bonus. Will be happy to stay here again.

Just what I needed

Staff helpful and friendly.
Hotel was always warm and cosy.
Very good choice of food each day.
Very good entertainment each night.
Bed soft and comfortable.
Plenty of space to hang/store clothes in the bedroom.
Plenty of hot drink supplies in the bedroom.
Only downside was the bathroom which was in some need of modernising and chronic creaking of floorboards which, in some spots, was very noisy.

I did enjoy my few days stay comfortable hotel and entertainment and food. My room could  have had more electric socket light facilities. It was very dark when entering the room and only one small window. Had to keep changing the plugs only two sockets. And being disabled I found it very difficult. Room 121. It was far better than my previous experience in Weymouth over the complete Xmas break which was already reported and waiting response.

So so holiday

Just spent 5 days at the Bournemouth Sands hotel with loads of friends. This is definitely not the Ritz, but then again you are not paying Ritz prices.

Our room was large and clean and warm, although somewhat tired. The entertainment each night was fine, typical pub/Club type acts, but they entertained the crowd and went down pretty well.

Opinion on food is subjective, but I guess you get what you pay for. Some of the dishes were very good and some were pretty dire, sometimes the breakfast was not too warm, and the way they serve beans is quite comical, one small spoonful, served in a little bowl the size of a thimble, it made us smile though, not worth the extra washing up.

Beer prices for a hotel are quite reasonable, and there was a half price deal running from 5pm until 9pm on a couple of nights, but be aware, it doesn’t extend to all products.

A definite plus is the staff, they are just brilliant, friendly and helpful.

For the price we paid for the holiday, we didn’t expect 5 star, but what we received was adequate for the price.

Would we go back again, probably not, but we may try other Daish’s hotels at some time in the future to experience what they have to offer for the budget price.

Ok For The Price

When we first arrived we were given room 402. Large room with a bath and shower. When I first entered the room the smell hit you the smell of damp and diry. I looked up at the ceiling and and the ceiling was coming in. There was black bits all over the beds. I looked behind the door and carpet was so dusty yiu could write your name in the dust. I pulled the quilt off the single bed and there what looked like a black.mark on the bed linen.  I pulled back the bottom sheet and the mattress was all stained. No mattress protector. I went to the reception to ask for another room. We were then given 106. It was a bit better but not must. I have a bed under the window and the draft was unbearable. The shower was so hot and couldn't turn it down another trip to reception..The food in the restaurant we a very low standard. I had a bacon sandwich on a morning.  Everyday I asked for it to come  on bread and not toast. Everyday it was on toast. I think it was toasted because it was stale bread..The only good point about the hotel all the staff were amazing... But I must say I will never stay here again

Worse Hotel I have ever stayed at

A Friday to Tuesday break, a very quick and efficient check in, room 224 better than expecting, booked a twin room and found a large room with a small double and a single bed, lovely and warm with large bay window and just a glimpse of the sea, water always hot in sink and shower, reasonably clean but could of been better, as previous customers towel still hanging behind the door and an elastic headband on floor by side table.
I know everyone should take their own toiletries but was surprised there was nothing not even a small bar of soap in the bathroom. Staff soon attended when asked . Staff very friendly and efficient, meals good enough breakfast always hot/freshly cooked and speedily delivered to table. Evening entertainment was good  
Bournemouth itself rather run down now but still a pleasant stay.

5 day break

Had a nice winter break in the sands hotel.  Could do with updating in various areas but clean and food good with reasonable selection.  Prices charged are very good for what is offered.  Staff very friendly and helpful.

Winter break

My wife and I returned on Friday from  an excellent 4 night stay at the Sands Hotel. We have been on dozens of this type of break with Shearings and National Holidays in the past but this beats them all hands down. It is a family run business, and it shows,  with the Manager Jon being part of the family and his fantastic team all going the extra mile to make sure you have a memorable stay. The 3 barmen, George, Steve and Dan were unbelievable they all remembered our drinks round and the room number to charge it to, our waiter Kristofer was so prompt clearing our dishes and serving our next course and always with a smile. The food was very good with a full English breakfast and a varied 3 course evening meal. There was excellent entertainment on all 4 nights with halfprice drinks on 3 of them until 9pm, but even the full price was far less than you would pay in a pub. We had room 119 with a side sea view, it was immaculately clean with plenty of drawers and a good size wardrobe. The heating in the hotel was on 24 hours and I doubt if what we paid for our stay even covered our share of the energy bill!  I read a couple of negative reviews recently and I can only think they must have stayed somewhere else, we have never been to a Daish’s Hotel before but this we be our number one choice in the future.
