Nice clean and well equipped lodge.  Hot tub was excellent.  Lovely quiet site. If you're after peace and relaxation then this is ideal.  If you like larger sites with entertainment, bars and games then this is not for you.

We really enjoyed our stay here as a family.  The lodge was comfortable, clean and had everything we needed.  The only negative was that the check out time was so early (09:00).  It would be nice if it was later as packing up a family of 5 takes a while!

We would happily book again.

Nice family lodge

This is the 4th time we have visited. Sadly this will be the last time.

The lodges and the park are quite run down, and in need of a lot of TLC. On this visit we booked lodge 27 (The Ruby). In the photos on the Hoseasons website this looked very modern and in good condition. Sadly the reality was that this lodge is tired, mouldy in places, carpets need cleaning, kitchen (although very spacious and well equipped) needs some attention - for example some cupboards don’t close properly, lights don’t work, knives are all blunt, integral dishwasher not fixed in place properly so moves when you open it, bed base in main bedroom broken, damp in second bedroom, bath tap did not work so had to fill bath from shower head, all the blinds need replacing or at the least cleaning. Decking is tired, outside lights didn’t work, outside furniture very tired. 
Positives are that it is really spacious and has a nice layout, hot tub is huge and very clean. 

Unfortunately the toilet in the en-suite had a leak and was leaking waste water on day 3 - we were offered another lodge but it was quite dark and a lot smaller and very overlooked. We asked if anything else was available and were offered lodge 40 (The Estonia) which we have stayed in before so we moved.  We did find the maintenance man extremely helpful and he acted quickly to sort out a new lodge for us. 

Lodge 40 is an older style lodge; all wooden inside. On entering there were LOTS of big flies in the lodge, at least 15 on one window. We opened the window to get rid of them and found loads more within the window seal.  Throughout this the rest of our stay there were continual problems with flies - looking at previous reviews this is an ongoing problem in a number of lodges which they have not dealt with. We mentioned this when we left and were told we should have let them know, they said it’s the weather, the time of year and that there’s a farm nearby! The fact is the flies are getting back into the lodge as fast as you can remove them so that needs to be dealt with. The TV in the main living area was temperamental, and the TV in the bedroom still doesn’t work since the last time we stayed in this lodge! 

Overall the lodge was fairly clean but there were stains in the carpet which was not appealing when you walk in the main room. Kitchen is small but well equipped. Hot tub is fine, although under a tree so leaves were a problem. 

One big issue we found was at night there was a lot of scurrying on or within the roof - this woke me up a few times. I assume this was rats or mice. The bins are enclosed but there was no evidence of rat traps or similar anywhere near the lodge and the noise was significant at night so needs dealing with. 

This park is very secluded and peaceful, but we noticed it’s become very run down and feels a bit depressing when you drive in (pot holes could have been filled for example). They promote this as luxury but it’s certainly not. 

The lodges are all privately owned so the accommodation varies depending on which lodge you book. We read comments from previous guests in the visitor book in lodge 27 - the issues we found this time had been mentioned for a few years by a number of guests but nothing has been done. 

If you are not expecting great things then it’s worth a visit but if you expect high quality accommodation this is not the place for you. It’s a shame as we have visited a number of times but won’t be returning. 

Tired and run down now 

Ruby lodges are very old and some need renovating . The site is very basic and run down. It is half mile from the main road and very desolate which I know will suit some people. Peaceful yes but no facilities at all. No wi fi and only a 3 g signal. The lodges are privately owned and advertised through Hoseasons, so standards will vary.
Our lodge on arrival looked lovely from the outside. We were shown to our lodge and unloaded our things. As this is a so called Hoseasons Autograph luxury lodge we couldn’t wait to see what it was like inside. Well a bit disappointing really as for a start Hoseasons boast home from home. This certainly wasn’t. They advertise a welcome pack but there was nothing, not even a tea bag so we had to go to the shops just to get basics, which is not good as the nearest shop is miles away. Then a few niggles which spoilt the experience. The curtains in the living area are odd and the bay window curtains aren’t big enough to close so leave a big gap in the middle. The walk in wardrobe was full of domestic cleaning things , steps buckets and hoovers etc, which isn’t a nice place to hang your clothes. The settees have seen better days and the under cupboard lights in the kitchen didn’t work. And finally we were asked to strip the beds and leave the linen in a laundry bag . Ok all good until we took the duvet cover off only to find two large stains on the actual duvet. Yuck not nice.

Luxury lodge certainly not!

We arrived to a site with no staff on it. Odd feeling not very welcoming. We got our name off a list taped to a door and found our lodge. While driving to it the site was bare. Hardly any lodges lots of emty spaces not much of a atmosphere going on at all. No one in the other lodges so had a spooky feel. Arrived in our lodge and it was jam packed with blue bottle flies. I called the number left in the book and asked for fly spray they acted like this was a new problem but now as I can see by old reviews this has been going on for years I do understand they could be getting in through little gaps etc. but not really what you want to arrive to for your week holiday which you paid for ! Spent first 3 days killing hundreds and I mean hundreds of flies and picking them up ! Lodge itself was nice but outdated been in much nicer ones tried the jacuzzi bath and piles of mold come out of the pipes into the water so must not have been cleaned for a very long time. We stayed as I booked the annual leave and paid for it but we won't return the site needs a lot done to it really. They shouldn't have opend it and started taking money. Its not ready. Its not got the right atmosphere or anything going on. Its also a strange looking spooky abandoned house there not sure what that is either.. 

Won't return

Exactly what was needed. Peace,  tranquility and privacy. Comfortable lodge,  clean,  hot tub was perfect. Listening to the sounds of nature all around. Walks are nearby and despite being 'off the beaten track', the place is very accessible and easy to get to visit places if needed. There is no shop onsite (Bude isn't far) nor WiFi, neither of which bothered us - this place is about switching off, getting back to nature and relaxing. Highly recommended!

Peaceful and Tranquil Haven

Absolutely wonderful week away we visited for our honeymoon its so peaceful here yes its in the middle of no where but we were aware of  this when we booked from researching,it could do with a little shop on site bit that's just my opion,you can also get DVD to borrow from the reception,hot tubs are well maintained,we stayed at Lodge 37 which was lovely apart from the on suite shower the shower screen broke but the reception were great came straight way and told us its a long standing problem with that shower and they are waiting for the owners of the lodge to replace it apart from that the lodge was cleaned well equipped could of done with a bit of paint outside and decking but we are just coming out of a pandemic so it is understandable,at night we could hear the owls that visited the site,if you want peace and quite this is the place to come we didn't mind driving every where in a beautiful part of the country,we will dwf be coming back next year for another relaxing break.

Perfect get away from it all

Stayed in a Tamar Lodge, everything was spotlessly clean, could not of wanted for anything  very much home from home. The hot tub was amazing, perfect way to unwind  and relax after visiting many attractions within an hour of the lodges.  The o ly gripe  is lack of wifi. If you want a totally relaxing and get away from it all holiday then visit these lodges.

Blissful Stay

We were so disappointed, after numerous holidays through Hoseseasons this place was a complete let down.

When we arrived just after 5pm as instructed there was no one to greet us, just a note on a noticed board saying where we were staying. 

When we parked up there were loads of rats and mice around the bins round the side of reception it was horrible! 

Our accommodation was very poor in standard! The shower room floor was moldy, the settees in the lounge were worn and should have been thrown out years ago. None of the blinds worked, the place needs a complete refurb.

Outside the cover on the hot tub had broken, it was really dangerous to lift off.  The hot tub itself was dirty, the filters were blocked and the water had loads of pine needles floating in it.

The site itself had nothing, there were more empty spaces than there was lodges, it’s no way near a luxury site and certainly won’t be going there again.

Very disappointed

When we arrived we were pleasantly surprised by the lodge. It was very clean and a very good size. A few things did let us down. The beds were so uncomfortable, my husband and I could almost feel the slats through the mattress. The sofa also was very soft and difficult to get off once sat on. The hot tub was under a tree and was full off needles and the filter was very dirty. Also no WiFi which isn’t a huge issue but unusual these days. We were happy to be in the middle of nowhere but there really is nowhere to get food if the only takeaway in the nearest village is closed so make sure you are prepared. It’s a good base for discovering Devon and Cornwall but it could be better. Double shower and bath a nice surprise. Hot tub is placed by toilet which also means you get some fragrant smells from the drains.

Has so much potential

We stayed in a Tamar Lodge, number 27. The park itself is idyllic-so quiet and peaceful. 

Our lodge was at the end and felt really private. There are quite a few empty concrete slots for other lodges, I think if those were taken it might not feel as spacious. 

Overall if you are looking for a break from the city this is perfect. The hot tub is huge, really hot and just lovely. The lady comes each day to check it and maintain. 

When we arrived our lodge was absolutely spotless. I’m really fussy and usually wash everything in the kitchen down. But I didn’t need to do anything. Every single thing in the kitchen was sparkling clean. Every part of the lodge was smudge and dust free - well done to the cleaners! 

The lodge is very well equipped with everything you need. Comfortable beds and lovely bathrooms. There are nice quality carpets in the lounge, hall and bedrooms…very homely. A decent SMEG fridge and a quality kitchen. Decent pots and pans, nice wine glasses and even plates etc for the kids. 

The only thing I thought the lodge lacked was a bit of personal touch - the sofas are ok, but perhaps a few new cushions would have given it more of that Luxury feel. 

 The curtains are really nice throughout, but let down by cheap metal blinds - hard to put down and one set is broken on the main patio doors looking out so you can’t pull up. 

The decking furniture is not great at all and we didn’t have an outside umbrella for shade.  It’s a shame as the more could be done (with minimal investment) to make such a nice decking area feel fabulous. 

Overall though, lovely place and would definitely visit again.
