This hotel is in a traditional Turkish noble families mansion. You enter through a massive walled gate and immaculately kept garden before reaching the hotel door.  The decorations and furnishings throughout the lobby and rooms takes you back in time and relaxes your spirit. The staff is wonderful and ready to make you feel like a noble guest.  They have the most wonderful restaurant.  It’s a easy 500 meter walk to the magic world of old Safranbolu.  Our mistake was to only have one night there.

Most of the original items were gone after the change of ownership and some of the new arabesque hues do not fit and are disturbing, but still the big rooms and the authenticity are a big plus.
The restaurant is OK, and it is one of the rare premises still offering alcohol.

Authentic experience as its best. Excellent hotel The staff was helpful and very polite. 
I have got the chance to see few rooms they were spacious with an ottoman style decoration. The room I picked was the biggest room in the hotel such an unforgettable experience. Strongly recommended 


Great ottoman experience 

This hotel, a former "lord"-s house, offers great rooms (we took the biggest one, to be honest) in a very Ottoman style with some mismatch kitsch items (like the phone). The bathrooms are much too small, but the overall ambiance is first class, a great experience. The former drawing room houses a huge fountain, in Turkish "Havuz", but don't make the same mistake as us, thinking the hotel has a swimming pool (havuz also means swimming pool). 
From the hotel you are in 3 minutes in the city center or just walk down the lane the hotel's entrance is on for a nice city experience

Ottoman experience

It is a historic property with charming interiors. Stayed there for 1 night. The room was beautiful, wooden interiors with high ceilings. The bathroom was small though it wasn't a problem for us (was told that due to historic reasons, they cannot make modifications to the building). The breakfast was filling and the service by the staff was prompt. 
The dining area had a fireplace, and the lounge area opposite to the reception was charming as well with its little pool. 
The open area in first floor where we stayed, had some mattresses and folding beds kept in open, potentially for some renovations of the rooms. Also in the charming dining room, there was a big red coke refrigerator. Small things like these disrupted the charming/historic ambience  of the hotel...

A beautiful, historic hotel with value for money!!!

I stayed here in early June. It's a bit ramshackle in places, and wouldn't suit people who like standard hotel environments. But it's hugely characterful. I had a corner room on the ground floor. It was like the refurbished rooms in old Ottoman houses which you see in this area. The day-to-day maintenance was good and the staff work hard to help. My brass bedstead was extremely comfy and I slept better here than in grander, more modern hotels with paper-thin walls. What it needs is some more love and investment from its new owners. It clearly has been left to wither a bit in recent years. With some upgrading of the infrastructure, it would be something really special again. It was the flagship project for the Turkish Touring Association in its day and there is plenty of that atmosphere left. That indoor pool is extraordinary! It also has a samovar and a vinyl record player. From having been a little apprehensive after reading some of what's been said on here, I was very pleased to have stayed here.
