I love staying in the Kadikoy area.  This area does not have the same volume and range of accommodation as other areas of Istanbul.  Which is why you will be delighted that Bahane offers a lovely room at a reasonable price.  The rooms common area and shared bathrooms are all very clean. The pictures really do show how nice the hostel is.  As others have mentioned it is on the third floor with no elevator. The area can be a bit noisy, but the noise is only people talking.  The area is fabulous. It is full of coffee shops restaurants and most important, very few tourists.

It is easy to get to other areas in Istanbul such as train station and the airports by Metro or by ferry and metro.  The restaurants are numerous and offer a wide range or price points from trendy restaurants to local buffets which are both frequented by locals.  Alcohol, beer and wine is also readily available in most of the restaurants and in the various grocery and specialty  stores. 

The only suggestion is to add a bit more light or a lamp in the common area. 

Bahane and Kadikoy have it all.

Bahane and Kadikoy equal perfect

Loved staying at Hostel Bahane. The other reviews are right - it is more like a little boutique hotel rather than a hostel, the only down side of that being it’s pretty quiet in social terms if you’re looking to meet new people. But the location is perfect in the cool area of Kadikoy. Lots of bars, restaurants, local market with fresh food is near and some lovely independent shops and coffee shops also. The rooms are clean and stylishly designed with comfy beds and fans for the heat. The bathrooms are good if only looking a little worn-in. Overall however very good value for money and I’d 100% recommend! 

Perfect stay

The best place i stayed at in Istanbul. And it's in kadikoy, where u can find anything you are looking for.
In Bahane hostel people are lovely and they speak English, and they are enjoying helping you.
The place is quiet and very clean.

Bahane is the best

If you are a tourist to visit the Anatoliam side of Istanbul and you want to have night-outs in Kadikoy, this place is yours. The top flat of a three-floor old building is designed into this cozy and comfortable hostel. I stayed in the room with a double-bed for the weekend. The room also has a balcony for smokers. The common toilets and WCs are clean, Wifi connection is perfect, and staff is really kind. Two warnings from my side: the location of the hostel is in the center, this is good; but it is a bit noisy due to bars& cafes around, even at 1 am. Secondly, there is no elevator, so you'd rather have light backpacks to climb three floors:)

Perfect location

The location is the best for anyone wanting to do a less touristic visit to Istanbul. Kadiköy is an amazing neighborhood with tons of cafeterias and restaurants but well connected to the european city center (the hostel is 15 min walk to the ferry station). 
The room is clean, with a little terrace to smoke and there are two bathrooms (which you share with the rest of the hosts) that are very very VERY clean. When we were there there werent many people staying so we never had to wait to use the bathroom. There is also a small kitchen but we never used it, except of the fridge to keep our drinks. 
Finally, the price makes it totally worth it.
The only inconveniences are:
1) The hostel is situated in a very busy street and to get to there you have to enter trough a bar and can be a little noisy at night.
2) When we got there, none was there to receive us, we had to go ask the bartender which opened the door for us. The rest of the time the staff was very nice.
3) The hostel is in the third floor and there is no elevator and the stairs are really small.

Despite minor issues, I will totally recommend it and for sure will repeat!
