18 reviewsWe stayed here for a week in July and a real traditional Swiss hotel it was. We were on a half board basis, which after the first night worked out very well. The owner speaks English, as do most staff except for the waitresses, but you get by eventually. The food was what you would expect, with a hearty continental breakfst (but no croissants though) and the evening meal was two courses, which more than filled us up, Beer, wine and coffee were available at very reasonable prices. The room was really good. it was really huge with an en suite bathroom and large balcony with spectacular mountain views, including The Jungfrau. The cost was very reasonable, being considerably less per night than we payed in Cornwall earlier this year. A tip from the owner: book direct and if you are staying a few nights, a discount may well be given, as they then don't have to pay commission to booking dot com etc. The village, Schwanden, is a bit off the beaten track though is served by a regular bus service throughout the day to either Sigriswil of Oberhofen, which then give you option for onward travel to Thun (bus or ship) or Interlaken. The guest card (free from the hotel) gives free travel on the buses.
