excellent local restaurant with local food and lead by a local family Fontana! good choice of various meals including lake fish specialities; very nice familiar and attentive service! to mention the fantastic lake view on lago Maggiore.

Please remove the really bad reviews. Unfortunately it is true that the restaurant has gone through a bad period. But since the beginning of 2023 there is a completely new team and the service has become good, very Italian and entertaining. The food is mainly traditional Swiss, especially ticinese but the ingredients are as much as possible from local producers they know and seasonal. It is all freshly prepared, there's nothing out of the tin. The menu doesn't have a lot of vegetarian choices but if you ask, they will modify existing dishes and add vegetables creatively. You can feel a lot of enthusiasm and fun at work which rewards the guest with a thoroughly enjoyable meal.

locale con una bella vista, cameriera gentile, purtroppo scarso la qualita del cibo, piatti serviti con ingredienti sbagliati per risparmiare e parecchie offerte nel menu mancavano.
meglio fare solo un aperitivo!!

We visited this restaurant in July during our stay in the Italian part of Switzerland. 
I’m very familiar with the area since my parents had owned a vacation home in Fosano for 20 years. 
We had eaten there many time before.
The location and the view is wonderful, but that’s about it.
The whole place looks run down and in desperate need of a update.
We waited nearly half a hour until somebody came finally by with menus and to take a order for drinks.
Only two waiters, totally understaffed. A young girl who really tried her best and was friendly and a middle aged grumpy, unfriendly and extremely rude lady. She definitely does not belong into the service industry and was the worst example of Swiss hospitality I ever have come across!
After nearly 1 hour 30 minutes we finally got our meals. The lasagna was a sorry looking slap of pasta with some red sauce, nothing baked!!( waitress answer was , that’s how we make our lasagna), butter noodles swimming in oil, pasta al fungie with no taste at all.
I’m Swiss , even I live abroad now, that dinner was a disgrace and totally overpriced for the small portions and for what we got. 
Go for a drink to enjoy the lovely view, but eat somewhere else!!!!

Great view from balcony, however food and service was not that nice (really NOT!). We felt uncomfortable throughout our stay at the restaurant and left before the fireworks took off over the lake maggiore! Stay away...

Food was average; Wine just bad; Bottled beer was amazing ;-)
