Great place. Went here travelling in work (1 night stay)
Had a great stay. I slept in the castle and had the most amazing room.
Tim took care of me during dinner and told me stories about the castle.

The breakfast had a lot to offer, even tho it was not that many guests that night.
When travelling to Växjö I'll go back here.

the only downside sleeping in the castle is the shared bathroom and shower, but it is built this way and it didnt bother me that much. There is other rooms available with own shower/WC so it can be avoided if it is a huge deal.

The food in the restaurant is great, they even got their own wines.

10/10, would highly recommend!

Great experience

A somewhat pleasant looking exterior masking an uncomfortable, unfriendly, dirty and dated experience. I would HIGHLY recommend anyone even remotely considering this place to run away and stay at Clarion Cardinalen instead. 

Horrible

Booking a room in the castle ending up in a side building not even worth the name hotel . Noisy, things broken en not worth the money as when staying in the castle. They paid back 1/3, as I wouldn’t hv accepted a voucher. Noisy during the night, low standard

Disappointing

Beautiful, historic castle and grounds!  What a unique experience. Staff was super friendly and accommodations comfortable. The hall bath is shared so be aware but was not really an issue for us.  We had breakfast and dinner and loved both!!

Castle experience

there are some posts complaining that their rooms were not located within the castle. we had the same situation - but this is explicitly listed on the slotts website - so no reason to complain afterwards :-)) on arrival (the reception is within the castle) you ask youself why you didn´t resreve a room within those wonderful walls - well, we didn´t because we didn´t want to share a bath with other guests. our room in one of the old gate keeper houses was on the 2nd floor, small with narror ceiling - but clean and with own bathroom. 5 mns walk to the castle through a real nice park. breakfast at the castle in the historical rooms was good and rich. we had also booked dinner, the main courses were very good, portions could be a liitle bit larger for hungry people - but to cover this you can also order excellent starters and/or deserts. in the glasriket area probably the most unique choice.

some post-issuers should read the website better ...

Teleborgs Castle is locating ca 3km from the city centre in a beautiful garden on the lakeside. There is a bus stop ca 400 m from the hotel, so you can take the bus to get to the city. Buses are leavíng in the front of the university main building in every 10 minutes or so and will take you to the Växjö railway station. You can also take ca 35-40  minutes walk around the lake, the walking trail starts at the front of the hotel. The interior of the hotel is beautiful: gorgeous dining hall and lobby, high ceilings, stained glass windows and beautiful views to the garden. I did not know (and there was no information on the hotel website!), that some of the rooms are locating in the old gatekeeper buildings ca 300 m from the main Castle. Although our room was very beautifully decorated and comfortable, it was somewhat disappointing that we could not stay at the main building, especially taking into account the price of the room. It is somewhat inconvenient to walk every morning to the Castle for breakfast or dinner, so if you are an older couple, disabled or a family with the kids, be sure that your rooms are in the main building! 

Beautiful Castle but be aware that you might not get the room in the main building - value for money?

Castle is amazing on the outside and some nice touches on the inside, but the decor is very basic, atmosphere is non existent (no music etc) tables are a little cramped together, menu is fairly basic with not a lot of options but food is amazing! Service was nice but slow. 

In overview I was a little disappointed in the entire venue, there is so much potential but needs work! 

Castle Dining

An interesting combination of the Middle Ages and modern traditions both in the hotel and in the restaurant. Beautiful park and views of the lakes. Nearby is the Linnaeus University. Far from the center.

Feel yourself in the modern Middle Ages

When we arrived in Gothenburg our friends told us that the had booked a castle.

We arrived in grey skies and rain, but the castle is amazing. Ok, it may not be from the Middle Ages, but still old and imposing.

Staff were excellent and helpful.

Dinner was amazing, and breakfast was good also.

We had the largest room (4) that was huge, with large balcony.  Only down side was no on-suite and we had to use the shared bathrooms.  But not too bad.

Would go back again if given the chance.

Live like a king for a night, or two

I cannot review the hotel, but I’ve visited the restaurant at lunch time for many years now, both in a professional capacity and with family, and the food is excellent. Traditional Swedish food with a twist, and lovely staff and a chatty chef.
