If you would like to stay for a night at a place with having a possibility of cooking I suggest you staying there . The price with Umeå standard is reasonable .

I stayed at a double bed private room . 
Toilets were kinda small and the cleanliness of bathrooms could be a little higher .

Good price for ok service .

Hostel was in great spot, next to the main street of Umea center. The prices are very affordable! There were light blocking curtains in our room. Beds were ok. 

Rooms were very clean! The floors were completely dirtless and dustless, which is not always the case in hostels. They require guests to clean after themselves but it was a bit unclear how much and what you should clean after staying in a dorm.

I slept in a 6 bed female dorm, which even had an own bathroom. There were enough individual showers in the hallway, so I never had to wait for my turn. 

There's a tiny kitchen with fridge and freezer with basic utensils, where I was able to store my foods and cook.  Breakfast is also served, but it is not included in the price.

The only bad thing I have to say about the hostel is that they didn't inform me about the details when I registered. I had to search the kitchen myself and I didn't know the laundry possibilities and the doorcode system. They only gave me an info paper in Swedish.

Clean and convenient hostel

Clean but a bit old & tatty.  Very good kitchen.  Would be better if the reception was open more.  People turned up late at night who had booked but there was no info or sheets for them.  In a good position to too far from the station.

Bit old & dark

Great locations, low prices, good breakfast and washing machine available.  The lady from the reception was very nice, but the reception is open only a few hours a day. 
I stayed for 3 days in which it was very quite in the hostel. 

Good hostel at great location 

The hostel itself is really nice and clean, also very central. But they charge extra for sheets, towels and even cleaning! I just think it's not declared well enough on the website. What's also unfortunate is, that the reception is only opened for 2 or 3 hours a day. When we arrived we were lucky that another guest entered, otherwise we wouldn't have been able to get into the hostel.
I think when you know all of that, you can totally enjoy your stay, for us there were just too many bad surprises..

Central & clean, but be prepared to pay extra for almost everything..

Umea STF was the first hostel I've stayed in, and while I prefer a 5 star hotel, this was a great place for our group of college students to begin our Semester in Sweden.  Our family had a 4 bed room with a bathroom, that was clean and the beds were comfortable.  We faced the back parking lot, so outside noise was not an issue.  We were on the main floor, and you could hear plenty of door noise and banging around in the room above, but not terrible.  

The kitchens were clean, well equipped and organized.  I appreciated that there were a few basic spices and staples for guests to use.

Breakfast was really great, although the juice was not so good.  There was a complete selection of granola and muesli, breads, meats, cheeses, jams and soft boiled eggs.

There is a laundry facility available for 40 SEK (including laundry soap!), but it is hard to get your laundry done in the 2 hours allotted!  Use the 43 minute quick wash cycle, follow with the centrifuge (spin) and your clothes with be dryer going into the actual dryer.  Pack quick drying clothes!  

Staff was relatively friendly, definitely some more than others.  We were supposed to be able to buy the group discount card there, but they didn't have one available.  Between Pernilla and Maja, they figured it out (I made a call to Stockholm headquarters to get the ball rolling), gave us a temporary pass and arranged to have the group card mailed to us at our next destination.  Maja was especially helpful  with the details of the card and with check-out.

Location is phenomenal, as we walked and bus everywhere.  I would stay here again, it was a good value.
